Dickey's Barbecue Pit

Been here for family pack take out 3 times and live a good 45 minutes away or I would stop in more often. Always great food especially the brisket… everyone is very friendly … manager and owner and served by James yesterday who brightened my day with his great attitude, efficiency and recommendations! Look forward to many more meals!

I visited this location twice, both times they struggled to use the gift cards that were purchased at Costco. At the second visit there was $32 left on the gift cards ($25 on one and $7 on the other). My total purchase was $57 they used $26 of the gift cards, charged me the difference and kept the card with balance. I didn't make the correction because by this time I was frustrated. It took three (one was a manager) people to attempt to deduct funds from the gift cards. It brought so much attention to my purchase that it was embarrassing. They even loudly stated in the beginning that there were no funds on any of the cards. This also happened the first time that I visited the store, so I imagine that they had the knowledge needed on the second visit. Not so. I purchased gift cards for my employees to visit this store, my concern is that they will experience the same terrible service. I am certain that I am not the only person to use gift cards at this restaurant because this is the only Dickey's in the area and Costco, a bulk retailer, is selling their restaurant cards in $100 increments! If I were to ever visit this restaurant again, I would NOT use gift cards because it is a challenge for the entire staff to deduct the funds using the cards AND I would double check the charges because they can't count either.

The brisket is tasty but there is a $2 upcharge. Unfortunately, I ordered a Caesar salad as one of my sides. I poured out the salad into a container so that I can mix the dressing. I discovered a large dead ladybug in my salad. I’m so happy that I hadn’t started eating it yet. Needless to say, I threw it away. The customer service has kind of taken a nosedive with the new crew. The person making my food was on a personal call the entire time.

So gross. Disappointed because we were previous fans of Dickey's. The meat attendant wiped his nose on his gloves, all the way across his glove then continued to cut our meet and make a taco without changing his gloves or washing his hands, so gross! I was so shocked. The manager on duty did not wear gloves while handling/plating our food, after which I watched her pick something out of her ear with her long fingernail. The roll that she served my son had a fingernail impression on the top of it where her finger went into the roll. The cashier was laying his head on the counter while not helping customers, face down on the counter where the food trays go when being presented to the customers. He kept laying his head down like he was about to fall asleep, this was very disconcerting. We were totally grossed out by the entire experience. We will never visit this Dickey's location again. There are some serious issues with food safety here and just overall hygiene issues that just freaked me out. We have been fans of Dickey's menu and food, so this is a major let down.

The only positive that I can say is that they got my order correct. The food, however, was a big miss to me. It tasted like cafeteria food to me...it was lacking flavor. The Mac and cheese was very disappointing as it tasted like it came straight from a box...like something on a kids menu. I probably wouldn’t eat here again if I had the choice.
