Sadie's

I heard that this restaurant had good sausage gravy so my girlfriend and I decided to try it. It’s located in an area that you’d normally think wouldn’t have somewhere to eat. We were able to find it ok though. The restaurant is part of a large building that might be a community center or a cattle auction, I’m not sure but there is one entrance and immediately to the left is a second entrance for Sadie’s. When we entered the first entrance we were met with the powerful scent of urinal cake, bathroom smell. Not pleasant but it was brief. Inside Sadie’s didn’t smell like that so we found a place to sit. There were maybe twelve to fifteen people there total including ourselves, the kitchen staff and the server. Water was dropped off with a quick explanation that three other tables were still waiting to order an a apology was offered. I said that no worries and she headed off. It wasn’t long before we both had decided what we wanted and so I began to observe the server. What I saw was someone who didn’t know what they were doing and had a serious aversion to work that requires a little hustle. She was just so overwhelmed with her job it emanated in her body language as it was clear she felt put upon. As we waited another couple came in and sat at the counter. They asked for and were served coffee immediately and shortly after they’re orders were taken. Not a big deal and we continued to wait patiently. The server, who continued to flail at her job, took the order of the table next to us and went and out it in. She then bussed a table and when she walked back by she spoke to us again starting out by saying she was sorry but the big table over there still has to order. The way she said it though felt like she was trying to let us know how unwelcome we were and we she probably just go away. I would’ve been fine waiting for her to take their order and get to us when she had time. I’ve run into unfriendly service a few times in this town but this was worst I’ve been treated here. I think the issue is everyone knows everyone and anyone new is automatically seen as a threat, different, not welcome. After she was done speaking I immediately realized we were unwanted there so we left. I might try again sometime but I hope she’s not there. Or if she is she has some help so her job isn’t so hard. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry and she didn’t have too many tables. She’s just bad at her job. 09/15/18
