Bbq Chicken

We came to this bb.q on our way home to San Diego from LA. It was our daughter's 8th bday, and she wanted KFC for her bdsy dinner. Much of our family lives in Laguna, so this was a good place in the middle to meet on our way home. We love bb.q first of all and eat at the San Diego location often. We just want to say thank you so much to the staff and the main manager that was there on Sarurday, 07/08, from 8pm to close. We are so grateful for your kindness to serve our large party of 11, but mostly, we are grateful for letting us bring our own homemade cake for her and letting her blow out her candle. You also provided us with plates to eat the cake, which was so kind. We know that this is generally not allowed, so we are so thankful to you and for being a huge part of ending our daughter's special day with her favorite meal, cake and being surrounded by family.

I really liked the chicken here before . Recently there seems to have been some change in how the chicken is prepared. Much different from pictures. The chicken batter seems to be a bit on the bready and hard side rather then the flaky and crispy side. I uploaded pictures and a small video here. The picture on the left was how it came out and the picture on the right is how they wish it would come out. What would be cool is if they used a better quality chicken like Jidori. It’s hard to find a restaurant that sells chicken which uses high-quality chicken meat like Jidori.

I had the spicy original wings and cheeslings. The spicy original is about 70% similar to KFC's original "hot wings" from the 90's and the cheeslings are like popcorn chicken dressed in a cheese-n-yogurt-like powder. Overall it was a good experience, but not a "wow, I wanna come back every week or month". Maybe the location has something to do with the prices, but it's certainly not a budget friendly place.

Doordash Order! The order was ready and dispatched quickly. The order was very well packed and prepared. It came with eating plastic utensils and extra napkins. The food was still hot went we received it. And the soda was also nice and chill still! I really enjoyed the chicken, we asked for original chicken. It was nice and crispy on the outside, while soft and juicy on the inside. The Kimchi fried rice was good too. Only thing is that it was a bit too spicy for me (I didn’t know it was spicy). I still ate some of the rice, because it was really good, very good flavor, so I ate as much as I could handle. But my wife really loved it, she loves spicy food. Overall, it was a very good experience. Will definitely come back again, or Doordash it again lol.

BBQ Chicken is the best Fried Chicken I have ever had in SoCal! They fry the drumsticks with olive oil and it tastes amazing! The hot sauce is very spicy and I recommend having the hot sauce as a side. Their fries is delicious as well. The prices are reasonable and their specials are definitely a full portion and will feed you pretty well.
