This establishment puts chipotle to shame. So much more variety and everything takes so fresh and good. They make their tortillas from scratch! They are constantly putting specials for their meat selection and I love that they toast the cheese on the burritos. A+. Keep up the good work!

The service at this location is phenomenal. The staff are all super friendly and frequently remember my order. I always order a taco salad; the portion is extremely large and very filling. The salad bowl is the ultimate form of the burrito bowl; this Cafe Rio does not skimp on any ingredients and makes sure you will be full after you meal. Each salad honestly lasts me two meals especially if you include every ingredient option. If you want a satisfying meal worth the cost, check out this location!

There are many options as you can build the items yourself, choosing from burritos, tacos, enchiladas, salads, tostadas, quesadillas, and nachos. In addition to rice, beans, pico de gallo, sour cream, cheese, lettuce, guacamole, and queso, there are four levels of sauce heat: mild, medium, hot, even hotter.

I don’t understand all the vitriol toward my beloved Cafe Rio. Is it true that there is one employee here that holds up lines at the register? Maybe. Is it also true that Cafe Rio makes the best mixes of lettuce, beans, rice, salsa, guacamole and tortillas? Resounding yes.
Order ahead. Out of the many, many times I have ordered ahead, there has been literally ONE time when my order wasn’t ready ahead of time. And it’s always excellent. Get the sweet peak quesadilla. Mmmmmm.

Previously had a 5 stars, hate to drop to 4 but there is one common issue every time I go in on a Tuesday...they run out of their amazing horchata at around 5pm (when I normally go in for Taco Tuesday). Seems like they should know that they need to make extra when they run out so early every Tuesday.
Besides that the staff is always amazing, food is great, place is clean, can't go wrong here unless you like horchata like me.

Excellent lunch! Walked into Irvine Café Rio and carried lunch home. Ordered 2 fire grilled chicken quesadillas w fresh lettuce and tomatoes and double shredded beef enchilada w rice and beans. Food was exactly as ordered and delicious. We are fortunate to have this restaurant at Alton and Culver. The food is consistently good and the portions are generous. Thanks Luis...happy December!

I love Cafe Rio!!! I always order the Vegetarian Tostada; double beans and rice. And add guac and all the veggies. This time, I also ordered chip, guac, salsa. You get alot of food here. Worth your money and the food is good!
