Spaghetti Works

This was a cute Italian diner type of experience. It's in a great location with a lot happening. The service was a little inconsistent between employees. They have a small salad bar, which was oddly almost too dark to see anything. We ordered their gluten free options. The food was good, but left something to be desired in presentation.

Walked in on a whim. Planning to go to another restaurant near here, but I'm glad I went to Spaghetti Works instead. I was not familiar with many of there sauses so decided to get the sampler. It was fabulous. There were a couple sauses I was not as fond of, but there were surprises too. I am not a big seafood person, but the SPICY red clam sauce was amazing. And try actually mean spicy. The beer cheese an chili were both good and completely new experiences for me. If you are undecided on more than a couple of them, give it a try ... On and it's A LOT of food. Additionally I started with their salad bar, basic lettuce and some fun toppings, plus a wide variety of dressings. I'm sure I could have made a meal of it if I had tried. And the people, although they were short staffed, the staff was still wonderful and made my experience even better. I believe Jada was my servers name and she was extremely helpful.

This seemed promising. I was sat right away and the server was in the table fast!! Gave me no time to even sit before she was requesting my drink order. I just spouted out Coke, and that even seemed to take too long for her. She came back took my order and after a minute to look at the menu adjusted my drink order and asked for the Works Pasta. All the sauce choices were abundant and this gave me a sample of each. I got fettuccine noodles. The food came out before I even got back from the salad bar. For a pasta place the noodles were blah! Served less than warm and stuck together. Some of the sauces had nice flavor but were VERY greasy. The server did bring one refill with the bill. She was very absent from my table and the gentleman at the table besides me had to go find her in order to place his order, which was odd since she was on me so fast. When she finally came back for my card I asked for a to go drink and she said no rather fast, then the excuse they had no to go cups. I shoo-in y head and said alright, all the whole looking at another table with kids that all had beverages in paper cups with lids. Over all I would say skip this place unless you just really need pasta.

We went to this location this evening and myself and husband were seated in the same room as a large family/party that was loud the majority of the stay. We understand that it was not our server’s control to place us there, and had the offering to move, but we had already placed our orders. While we were told they would have management speak with the group if their volume persisted, it never seemed to arrive as the volume stayed the same the majority of the evening. It may not be the best decision on part of the wait staff to sit a couple in the same room as a large and loud party when there are other seating options open.

I am absolutely in love! The food is so amazing, and it was surprisingly cheap with how well their quality was. I got the build your own pasta where you get free refills on your pasta, and it was only $11 per person! The food was absolutely amazing, as was the salad bar. Their desert tasted good too, though they don't have many options for it. I really enjoyed the vibe overall of this place, it felt cozy and not overcrowded, even though I was there when they were very busy. The servers were nice and we got our food very quickly. I'm in love and I will definitely go again soon!

Spaghetti works is one of my favorite places to eat whenever I am in the Des Moines area. It's in the middle of downtown in the perfect place. If you stay in the downtown area, you must try this gem. They have an awesome salad bar. You can load up on greens and then they have the best "junk" to add to your salad. Then once you are done with all the salad comes the garlic bread and pasta! When I say pasta, I mean Loooord Jeeeeeesus. They have so much pasta to choose from. Gluten free, whole grain, normal pasta etc. Then to top it off they have 12 different Sauces to choose from. You can even mix and match them to your liking! Meat, beer cheese, pesto, Alfredo and many more. Best thing is. . .they are kid friendly. Please take a moment and try this divine place! If you like pasta. . . It's well worth the visit.

Always like coming here. Staff is friendly and for the amount of food you get it is well worth it. Nice place to sit with family. Love their signature sauces and that the menu is simple and easy to read. It's nice that they have kept up with the salad bar too so the kitchen staff have one less thing to make and you can fill up on some starters while you wait.
