The New Lamp

The starter we had was absolutely gorgeous (halloumi fries), however, the main was very disappointing. I had fish & chips and my husband had southern fried chicken burger and both of them tasted like they weren’t made fresh but were frozen. The texture for both of them weren’t great! I also don’t know if it’s just the time we went (Sunday lunchtime), but there was only one staff member serving, which meant that service was rather slow at least until another staff member started their shift. Service was alright though.

We wanted to find somewhere local to eat after a walk. The staff were very welcoming and the beef roast dinner was absolutely gorgeous. The soup of the day was lovely, too. They give generous portions. The landlord told me about another local walk. We will do that at some point and come here again to eat. Great place!

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. I would rate five but Unfortunately I heard they are getting rid of the small play area outside, which is ideal for families as during the nice weather kids love being outside. The play area needs a revamping anyway,but still, a much needed area in a local pub. They have a pool table and large TV screen for sports. There is a section of seating area which is set back slightly from the main area of the main floor which can be used for parties or dinner reservations. Food itself is highly recommended by anyone who has been before and it also has a takeaway delivery service. Prices are above normal for the menu but reflects the quality and taste. For 2 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 younger children, the cost of a meal with dessert and drinks on top came to about 60-70 pounds. Great for a change of scenery or occasion but money well spent. Depending on the reasons for the visit, call to check for spaces in the evening and if any sports are on as can reflect slightly on clientele and atmosphere.
