Athens Diner

I had NE clam chowder stuffed quohoag and a BLT. The BLT was delicious made exactly how I ordered it crispy bacon with mayo and cheese. They are open until 2pm when I went it was noon and not very busy so a good time to go. The waitress were all very attentive and very pleasant. They are very accommodating I ordered 1 stuffed quohoag not knowing the side included 2 but they let me order the 1 even tho I said I would just take the other one to go. I noticed they also had a very bright sun room which I would of loved to sit in.

My husband and I went for breakfast and it was like we were invisible. We were seated timely and then sat in a booth for 15 to 20 minutes. During that time, not one hello, not one be with you shortly. NOTHING! Needless to say we left! I spoke to who I think would have been our waitress (Because she took order two booths over). She was floundering at the register and didn’t seem to know what to do next. DISORGANIZED!! I told her why we were leaving and she seemed relieved one less customer to wait on!

Just wanted to give the staff at coast line a high5 today. With new Covid restrictions they did their best with limited staff and no AC with open windows on an 80 degree day. Unfortunately there were delays with some operations but they are doing their best to try and provide some semblance of "safe" normalcy for those who are cautiously trying to reenter the new norm. Thank you for breakfast and please be patient with these businesses and don't give up on them in these times.

Unfortunately, the staff is really struggling with the aftermath of COVID. While we were waiting to be seated I heard one of the waitstaff repeatedly state that she was overwhelmed, couldn’t answer the phone because she was overwhelmed and how they were understaffed. She said all of this with her nose hanging out of her mask. Since it was obvious the staff was flustered, it made me feel bad asking for things like sugar for my coffee or more water. I didn’t want to put more pressure on them. Our food was fine and I’m happy to support local businesses but they’re definitely having a hard time adjusting.
