Pennypacker's

Ordered “fried pickles” and was given an array of friend vegetables. I was like “yo I think I have the wrong order?” The dude was like “that’s the way we do it” and I was like” there are no pickles..” and he was like “that’s the way we do it…”. Now they was legitimately not a single friend pickle in my dish. I’m upset that I am so upset by this.

Got the Porchetta sandwich, and it was pretty freaking tasty. They've been at that location for 5 years and rotate the menu quarterly, but the Porchetta sandwich has always stayed. Service takes a bit longer, because they prepare all orders from scratch. Staff was very friendly and did not hesitate to answer any questions I had. There's not a whole lot of seating inside. They also have soups and broths that you can take home and cook with or eat.

Fried chicken sandwich and meatloaf sandwich were amazing!!! Best sandwich I've ever had! The chicken was crispy on the outside but soft and moist on the inside. Came with a parsnip and apple puree I couldn't get enough of! Ciabatta bread was perfect and also crispy outside but soft inside. Ate at home and added a little mayo to each to top it off. Can tell this place is high quality. Will definitely come back!!

If I was writing this review on the food taste alone, I would give Pennypacker's 4 stars. The reason it earns only 2 is for how gross the in person experience was. Our order was taken and food was delivered by a dishevelled man wearing a grease stained ripped tshirt. While we were eating at the restaurant I heard a regular flow of hacking coughing sounds coming from him behind the counter. This wasn't just a bit of light coughing and made myself and my friend feel pretty uncertain about the sanitary situation of our food. My friend ate less than half of her food before she felt too repulsed by the coughing and threw the rest out. I wish I had a better experience here, but the potentially unsafe and certain disgusting encounter will absolutely keep either of us from returning.
