Highland Kitchen

I'd never been there before but the staff was absolutely wonderful. My friend and I got the fried plantains, buffalo brussel sprouts and gnocchi, and then jumbalya for dinner. Everything was perfect and had a great kick for those who like spice. The location felt small and the tables were small but id go again in a heartbeat

While visiting from out of town, I came across Highland Kitchen on Google. I was a little unsure going in, but I ended up being extremely impressed with the whole experience. The service was professional and helpful. The food was amazing. I ordered the pretzel, half chicken, and fries and all three were served hot. They were all delicious. I definitely recommend Highland Kitchen to anyone looking for tasty food in a relaxed atmosphere.

Had a lovely dinner and drinks here with a friend, what a great neighborhood restaurant! The service was wonderful, felt taken care of and never rushed. Drinks and food arrived quickly. Loved the Somerville Sunburn cocktail, and also enjoyed my food - homemade potato chips and caramelized onion dip, short rib gnocchi and a hot fudge brownie sundae. Will return :)

I, like many people, took too long to visit Highland Kitchen. I loved the atmosphere here, especially the bar and the music. There was no live band or karaoke tonight, but I imagine that's a big draw. I wish the food was as special as everything else, but I left a little disappointed, perhaps because I set my expectations too high. While there was nothing bad, it was good bar food rather than a great dinner restaurant. I started with the gnocchi which were fairly light but served a little cold. The ragout was also decent but wasn't thick enough and had no wow factor. There are many recommendations for the goat stew here and so I tried it. It had great flavor though it also felt a little loose. It's highlighted as spicy on the menu but not according to my taste buds. To be fair I have a fairly high tolerance for spice, but this wasn't like a Caribbean or Indian version. It gets crazy busy here and is very loud. I'm going to have to try this place another time for cocktails and karaoke.
