Jr's Mexican Food

A few dead bugs, red salsa....🔥🔥, doesn't seem that busy on a Thursday afternoon, weird smell, staff tend to not interact, on a hot day.. the doors are usually left open, menu is messy, food is presentable, t.v. is present but not activated, now I would suggest a carne asada burrito, prices are low. I would give it a 4th star but, the bugs sold me.

I had a carnitas plate which came in steak form. The portion size was good for the price (slightly over $10). Good salsa bar, good family atmosphere, service speed was slower but the quality of the food more than made up for it. I sat with three other people who also had excellent meals of tacos, enchiladas, a supreme quesadilla. 4.5 Stars and recommended after 1 total visit.

Yes this is as good as it gets! Last Friday we were headed into Escondido ... and I really had a hankering for a "Shredded Beef Hard shell Taco with Guacamole"... you know one of those times when you just think of a taste... and know what you want. I had Terri look up Mexican in Escondido thinking maybe we'd find something with good reviews that we had not tried before. Like many times before... Yelp came through with Jr's Mexican Food with 65+ reviews and five... not four or four point five... but five stars. We figured "How can we go wrong"? Plugged the address into the GPS and headed to Jr's. Cute little "spotless" house with private parking lot on the SW corner of West Valley Pkwy and the West frontage road for Centre City Parkway. Spotless... charming... smiling service ... and the first hint of excellence... the salsa/condiments/fixin's counter was loaded with very fresh greens, radishes, Mexican Oregano, and the best Mexican Carrots I've ever had. Smiling clerk at the counter took our order and when I asked for Guacamole... she said.. "Creamy or chunky".... don't remember ever having a choice at a Mexican restaurant before. Wife had Machaca Burrito and cheese quesadilla. I had two Hard Shell, Shredded Beef tacos with chunky guacamole, beans and rice. These were the best two tacos I've had in years. I posted a photo of the plate. Everything was perfection. Everything was Fresh. Everything was delicious. Beans were delicious... rice was basic. Loved the radishes. Absolutely can't wait to go back and eat my way through the menu. These guys know what they are doing.

I got the menudo. I was excited untill I tasted it. It tasted like it had detergent in it. Maybe they didn't rinse the plate off idk how it had that soupy taste. I told the waitress that I wanted my money back and to take this plate away. She instantly refused. She said she can only return it if the meat was raw but not because i the customer was unsatisfied. I love menudo and this menudo was nasty. Their tacos are bad too, I ordered more food and they were gross too. Honestly I am never ever coming back. I have never seen it packed when i look from the outside. No big lines or anything. Parking is a breeze. Do Not expect good mexican food here. Go to "tacos el gordo" huge lines there all the time because it taste like you are in Tijuana without going!. You prob already know it 😍
