Mac's Barbecue

I am a Corpus boy who lives in Italy now, so when visiting my hometown I was looking for some good brisket. This place does meat right! I had the Gordo taco (brisket point on a great tortilla), and a beef rib with a side of green beans and mac and cheese. The brisket and rib was melt in your mouth, and I was surprised to hear that he doesn't add salt and pepper or anything to his brisket, yet it is delicious. You can really taste the mesquite and love that he puts into it. Why Bill Millers (not bad but not authentic like this) has a line around it and this place doesn't is beyond me.

I can’t speak for the dine-in, but the service was fast, efficient and friendly. (I also LOVE the signs at the serving counter). I bought 2 lunches for a couple of customers. They got four meats, plus sides and desserts. This plate was so full that they had to try to tape the takeout container shut! I’m satisfied that you get what you pay for. I can’t wait to order for myself.

I ate at a restaurant next door to this establishment a few years ago and I always wanted to try it. Then I saw a commercial late in the evening, so the next day I went with a colleague for lunch. I had a lunch special chopped beef sandwich with beans and gumbo and it was delicious. I was torn between getting the sausage and or the brisket. The owner was present that day and generously allowed me to try the brisket free of charge, if I shared with my colleague since it was our first time. It was absolutely delicious! I tried MAC’s once, but I will definitely be returning for the great food & phenomenal customer service.

First time eating here and I'm already a fan of this place in many ways. Staff is extremely polite and very welcoming. The atmosphere of this place is positive and relaxing. Now the important part...the food. The food is absolutely great. I got the three meat plate (brisket/pork ribs/chicken) with pinto beans and coleslaw. All three meats had great flavor and was done perfectly. I highly recommend giving this place a try if you haven't already.
