Cracker Barrel

Cracker Barrel has been a favorite of mine for at least 30 years. The food has always been consistent and well prepared. The very worst service I've ever gotten from a server at Cracker Barrel was pretty doggone good considering some other places I've been. I had the meat loaf and potatoes, mashed, with turnip greens on the side and biscuit. The meatloaf was good. The potatoes were good but the gravy was cold. I prefer my meals to be hot. It was all good though. I didn't send anything back. My plate was clean when we left, so although the food was nothing to write home about ... it must have been pretty good. The best part of the meal was the biscuits. I do wish they would warm the butter a little bit. It's hard getting those little rocks of butter to spread on a lukewarm biscuit. Maybe there's a trick to that that I don't know about.

Worse service ever at a cracker barrel in 20 years. My wife has never ordered pancakes in the 18 years I've known her. They brought her pancakes, and we were not sure, who they were for. We asked our waitress where her french toast was and the server decided to argue with my wife about it. My wife was just trying to forget it and the server wouldn't let it go. The food was cold as well. Four tables sat down after us and also got their food before us. Felt like we were profiled. Fortunately we were passing through and never have to think about going back to this one. I expressed this to the manager, and the clerk. Nothing was made right. I highly recommend paying on this cracker barrel. For sure.

Kanyla was an excellent server today. Our order was hot fresh and our drinks were refilled. She said as very welcoming. Ethel checked us out and told me the sale on the candy sticks. She was so nice to my daughters and that means so much to me. The bathrooms were clean and the retail section was packed full.

I ordered a Heat and Serve Easter Dinner since we were having 8 people over for Easter. I just had back surgery and was not able to prepare and cook dinner as I normally would. We ordered a Ham Dinner and a Meatloaf Dinner. When my husband brought the meals home, all items were hot and ready to eat (as advertised) - EXCEPT for the 10-lb ham that was cold and still in the store package. I mean all sides, the rolls, the Meatloaf - everything was ready to eat! We called about this oversight and was told by the Manager that "this is the way it comes." Hard to believe that you would have a hot meal and an uncooked ham and call that heat and serve. We may be able to eat in about an hour and a half, at which time we will also have to reheat EVERYTHING else. And, we had ordered Thanksgiving and Easter meals before - this is NOT "the way it comes."

After having a long day, we decided to go to Cracker Barrel knowing that we could get a good meal. Unfortunately, that wasn't true. The restaurant was not busy but it took 45 minutes to get our meal, which was not prepared as ordered. I had to send food back to the kitchen as well as wait 5 minutes for butter and jam, requested at the time I ordered. The pancakes were so tough that we had a hard time even cutting into them. All in all a disappointing and less than satisfying meal.
