Very Americanized Mexican Food. It isn't terrible, but it definitely is not authentic and my kids could tell immediately and my oldest didn't even want to eat what he ordered. I had the chimichanga it was alright. The steak that it was prepared with was seasoned really well which made the dish. They forgot to put in my husband's order so he ended up having to wait longer than the rest of us. The portions are way smaller than you would get at any real Mexican restaurant so it wasn't worth it to us. The queso dip tasted like they melted Velveeta cheese and brought it out. Never in my life. The salsa was okay, but it comes out of a jar that they advertise for purchase so not fresh at all. In conclusion, if you do not like authentic Mexican food, but want to be fancier than Taco Bell this would be a good choice for you. If you are into good authentic Mexican Food, this isn't the place for you and you will be severely disappointed.

My family has been coming to this restaurant since they opened. We always have a fridge stocked with the jars of salsa. When eating out, we always used to choose El Palacio. During a time of inflation, prices changing are becoming the norm. However, a price change of $5.99 on the lunch menu for a quesadilla to $12.99 with no warning or posts, is absurd. We ordered takeout for a family of four, and in getting in the car to take it home, realized how expensive everything got. Our normal meal would typically cost $50-$60. Now is over $100. Aside from the costs rising, customer service is horrible, and the conversation with the actual owner was catastrophic. One excuse after the other, promises from the owner and hostess of rib-eye meat in the quesadilla, with 8 oz of meat and 8 oz of cheese per quesadilla. Mind you $12.99, for one single quesadilla, no sides, and the lettuce ordered on it, was not even cooked in it, and the entire thing was burnt. Take a look at the pictures. You tell me. We will never step foot in this place again, not even due to rise in pricing during a very hard time anyways, but due to the absurd behavior from the owner of the establishment.

We drove from Dothan to eat tonight. It was gross! My mom and I got the rice. It tasted horrible to BOTH of us. The beans tasted like canned beans (very thick and not fresh). Cheese dip was so thick it kept breaking our chips. The taste of the cheese dip was fine though. Beef enchilada wasn't bad. We definately will NOT be back!

They just nickel and dime you. If you order an enchilada or something anywhere else you expect chips and salsa, right? Nope. Went today to pick up lunch orders for the office. I ordered an enchilada and a taco and got chips and salsa. My coworker who ordered an enchilada and sopapia or however that’s spelled, did not. I know this was not a mistake because a couple of months ago I ordered an enchilada and cheese dip to go. When I got there to pick it up, I didn’t have any chips. When I asked about them they told me “that’s an extra charge”. When I asked why they didn’t come with the cheese dip they said “because most people have chips at home”. That’s not the point, plus I wasn’t going home. Once again I was picking up lunch for the office. Also, when I went to sign the receipt the owner seriously said “here’s the receipt, I need you to sign and leave a tip for the girls”. Ummmm, don’t tell me to leave a tip. I always tip, but being TOLD to did not sit well with me. There’s much gentler and better ways of nudging someone to leave a tip than that. Regardless, I most likely won’t be back. All of these things were said to me by the man with longer blonde hair. It was the same employee, and I’m pretty sure he’s the owner. So he’s the one setting the tone for the whole establishment. Do with this information as you will, but it’s not the best of experiences. Updated review based on reply. You’re not a subway. If you’re going to pick a place to compare yourself to, pick another Mexican restaurant. Let’s pick Rodeo’s, the one right down the way from you. Yes. If you order just a enchilada, a single enchilada, you get chips and salsa. This is the same at every single Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to, except for this place. So for anyone reading this, just go to rodeo’s. It’s right down the road, better service, and you won’t get hassled about a common staple that usually comes with meals.

My husband and I had dinner there a few nights ago. My husband got choked and tried doing the Heimlich maneuver with no success. I began to cry out for help because he was choking and the sweetest guy bussing tables came over and took over and dislodged the food allowing him to breathe again. We failed to get the young man's name but we will always remember such a hero he was. Thanks so much and may God richly bless you for the special care and time you took saving his life. The Chancey's
