The Puffy Muffin

We love Puffy Muffin! The food is consistently great. The fruit ginger tea is so delish. My favorite things to order are the tearoom sampler or the steak biscuits. This is a great breakfast and lunch spot. However, definitely expect a wait during the lunch hours as it is a hoppin’ place. Our waiter today was Eli who was nice and helpful!

After going to tastings at several other Nashville-area bakeries more well-known for wedding cakes and leaving unimpressed at every one, my mom reminded me about the delicious Puffy Muffin cakes we used to eat growing up in Nashville—and I immediately booked them before even having a tasting! We have absolutely NO regrets. Our cake was as delicious as it was beautiful. We loved having four different flavors, one in each tier (red velvet cake with cream cheese, strawberry cake with chocolate ganache, white cake with strawberries, and chocolate cake with raspberry jam). Puffy Muffin was also so open to using edible flowers that I pressed myself and they worked magic in adding some additional colorful airbrushed “leaves” and “stems” to fill out the empty spaces on the cake. Thank you for making the wedding cake of our dreams!

We arrived at the Puffy Muffin expecting a long wait for brunch but instead were greeted by a case of pastries and pies, along with a quick table seating. The menu was plentiful, but we were set on breakfast. For starters, we shared the gravy fries with true, delicious sausage gravy. For the main, Eggs Benedict, because they only serve it on Saturdays. I would not go out of my way for the Benedict, but everyone enjoyed their meals and agreed the potato casserole was worth writing home for. We finished our coffees and debated on ordering a giant cinnamon roll for the road... Our stomachs opted out. The service was decent, there was one misunderstanding on a ticket, but was addressed. If in the area, I would recommend stopping into the Puffy Muffin for a pastry, coffee, and a quart of potato casserole to enjoy on the way home.

Great spot for brunch or lunch. They have so many good choices it's hard to choose. They even have gluten free options now. We have gotten catering here for many parties over the years. I also enjoy coming in to grab a quick bite from the case in the front. My favorite is the amaretto chicken salad. The cranberry salad is the best. They will also make gluten free baked goods like cookies, cakes, or muffins. Everyone always likes the fruit tea as well. Be sure to get here early to get your name in the list as they won't seat you until your entire party is there.

The coffee was good and hot the food looked great. Unfortunately it was luke warm at best. The potato Casserole was the only food item that was hot. So I didn't eat the pancakes and sausage. I did eat the potato Casserole and coffee. $7.41 I should have went to cracker barrel. No one but the waitress said sorry. No manager no explanation. This was my 4th visit. I probably wouldn't make it a 5th. The ☆☆ rating was based on the coffee and the potatoes. The waitress was friendly. Not her fault.
