-Closed :(- Maxim Cafe oh YEAH! If you were expecting a restaurant similar to Hooters, but with Maxim Magazine models, sorry to disappoint you. Although, that would be an awesome theme for a restaurant. If you are looking for cheap lunch/ dinner items ranging from 5 to 9 dollars with generous portions, you came to the right place. Also, if you like Thai Tea or Milk tea with boba, most drinks are only $1.50 more with purchase of food. So put down that Tapioca Express and Lolicup powder crap NOW!! The only thing better than having a large Thai Iced Tea is the fact that you get FREE REFILLS! Why would anyone still drink soda? Put down your corn syrup crap and get some yum yum tea drinks! Man, I seriously love ABC style cafes! A lot of times, I wish I could go back to San Francisco and eat this kind of Chinese comfort food. So far this is my favorite Cafe in Rowland Heights and Alhambra area both for the quality, pricing, and value. Service is excellent and don't be afraid! All the servers do speak English. So you won't be made fun of for not knowing Cantonese or Maderine. Duh! I get that a lot. Some people say I look Korean, but I can't speak Canto, but I have a Chinese stomach. At least I know food items, but don't laugh at me if I say items wrong :). For anyone that doesn't know what ABC style is? ABC style or (American Born Chinese) is a fusion of American food and Cafe Chinese food. So any American food like pork chop or steak, imagine that with a tasty Chinese twist. I highly recommend Black Pepper steak if you don't know what to order. For any non-chinese people, you can order any American or Chinese food item you can think of! Don't be afraid I'm sure if it's not on the menu they will make it for you. BTW! It's a good thing to note. Maxim is OPEN ON SUNDAY. According to yelp Sunday hours are not posted, but I went yesturday and they were open. I'm not sure from what time to what time. Make sure to bring Cash, although you can pay with credit card if you order more than $25 worth of food. The items are cheap so if you have 2 people bring cash, but a party of 3 or more you can use credit card. Must try! Baked Porkchop, Sparibs with black bean sauce Fun (white noodles), Salt and Pepper Shrimp and Pork chop (dinner), or Porkchop and steak with black pepper sauce (2 whole porkchops and 2 steaks -dinner). High Recommended! If you are a picky Chinese food person, this isn't the best, but don't expect it to be for the price and location. The prices have not changed in at least 10 years, unlike gas prices. So enjoy and stop complaining.
