Cook Out

Usually this place is good. But tonight it wasn’t. Our soft drinks were very watery like the syrup bag should have been changed out for a fresh one, the third tray I ordered was not at all what I ordered but just a duplicate of the second tray that was ordered, and the hush puppies on the first tray were burnt and the cheese bites were bordering on being burnt too. I didn’t how much they messed up my order until I had gotten home and was handing it out to my family. Like I said usually this place is good but tonight was just straight bad. I would have said only 1 tray out of the 3 ordered didn’t have any problems but that isn’t true because the soft drinks were all watered down. Not to mention while I was in the drive thru line some random guy on foot was able to cut in and place an order. That’s no only a safety hazard but also disrespectful towards everyone else that had been waiting in line. The person at the drive thru shouldn’t have even taken his order.

The drive thru mic was low and could barely hear cashier. Got a chicken sandwich that looked like two small pieces were put together. I asked for seasoned fries for my two sides and it was one order. On top of that it looked like the seasoning was accidentally dumped on my fries but left there. The Cookout's in NC are better. First and last time coming to this one in Chesapeake.

Staff is always professional and service is pretty quick, but every single time I get a tray with double cheese bites as a side, they only give me like one side worth. I get a good amount if I get 2 different sides, but if I get 2 of the same side they skimp every single time. Since it happens every time I doubt it is a staff issue, it seems more likely that there is a policy telling the employees not to give 2 full sides if you order the same item

Normally love this place, but the past couple times I’ve been, something has always been wrong. Either missing item, made incorrectly, or rung up wrong. They really should fix their microphone for ordering too… Went today 2/15 and two items made incorrectly. Everything was rung up right, but I had a bbq sandwich and a cheddar style burger made wrong. I had fries and cheese bites for dinner. It sucks because there is no system to where I can get something replaced or get refunded without having to drive back today, which I do not feel like doing. Even if we had noticed things were wrong before leaving, I would have had to go through the drive through again to get it fixed because they won’t open up the dining area (which I wish they’d do. It’s been two years. It’s time). I really wish the people making food would get their stuff together. I’m getting tired of food being made wrong every single time I go to this location. I also have been having issues with consistency on how much they give you for your sides in the trays. I normally order cheese bites. This time I got 5, other times I’ll get 10 (which is what I think I should be getting anyway). This is another issue this store needs to figure out.

Normally, this is the one Cookout that is my go-to in the Hampton Roads area, however they really missed the mark today I understand with staffing shortages due to COVID, that wait times at drive-ins have increased, but if you’re not going to staff the second drive-thru line, MAYBE consider putting a sign up on the speaker or something saying the lane is CLOSED instead of having people/cars line up in the drive-through lane, wait 8 minutes during lunch time/rush hour, before they decide to pull off since nobody greeted them on the speaker. I decided to park and go inside to place my order, and the attendant for the second window decides to walk up right then telling the cashier there was no one waiting in the second drive-thru lane, while helping the car that was waiting behind me originally.
