Toki Underground Dc

Great little place with tons of atmosphere and delicious food. We were here for lunch on a weekend (with reservations) and had an enjoyable time - crispy fried chicken steamed buns followed by Red Miso and Toki Classic ramen. The ramen had a healthy portion of braised pork rather than the standard chashu pork. A little on the salty side but still delicious. Really appreciated the service as well. Please be warned that this is a TINY space and seating can be tight (you're on stools) but that's part of the overall charm and experience.

The food is fantastic. You get all the flavors you want, the quality is right where it needs to be, and it is filling. I prefer things spicier, but I didn’t specify so that is on me. We did a lot. The tofu and cucumber appetizer was good but needed more of the miso sauce. The karrage was perfection. But I wish the chicken on the buns was a different chicken than the karrage. I would have done something different if I’d known. The ramen was good too. Exactly what you’d expect, no surprises. I’d order again.

I really enjoyed my ramen, the red miso. However, keep in mind it's not traditional, it's Japanese inspired. Instead of chashu pork they use kaula pig. I thought the flavor was great! My partner had the classic toki. It was very mellow in flavor for tonkotsu broth and it wasn't spicy. It doesn't say spicy on the menu. He should have gotten the vegetarian, which says spicy. 🙂 I definitely want to return.

Place has a seating arrangement that reminds me of Japan! Also has fun quirks like skateboards for your feet to rest on while you sit in certain spot. Had the pickles plate as an appetizer which was just alright for $4.50. Where the place shined was the Taipei Curry Chicken ramen and the Shrimp and Crab Curry Noodles. The ramen was unique and delicious! One of the better ramen’s I’ve had in America. Place also has a cute stone sink outside the bathroom

Eaten here twice now, and each time, it gets better and better. This time around, I tried a little something different, so I had the pork belly Mazeman and the noodles, which were so good. Had a great bite to them. I almost ordered a second plate it was that good. They also did some cookies for my son's birthday, chocolate chip with a ginger and butter sauce on the side? The cookies were good, the sauce, not my thing, lol You have to make reservations as seating is small and tight. In my opinion, it's not a place to hang out but to come and eat 100% and I only say that because the seating is a bit tight. If you are a small group less than maybe 4, then ok.

One of the best ramen places I’ve been ever and I’ve been to ALOT! My wife and I had the chicken curry and the classic Toki ramen and they were both phenomenal. Such rich flavor and the various vegetables were a great complement to the broth. Would definitely go back and try more things. I can see why they produce award winning ramen. Staff was also very kind and attentive.
