Deep Blue (helmsley)

Visited deep blue fish and chip shop in Helmsley at the weekend where we were greeted by a friendly knowledgeable member of staff Carole. We asked about Gluten free and was told what they made and how they made it. It was made in a separate area and fryer, all areas were sanitised thoroughly and even the counter was when your order was ready to be served along with hand washing before it was served. Gluten free vinegar was also provided. The knowledge and training taken by the staff is exemplary. The fish and chips were delicious and we will definitely will be returning again. A big shout out to Carole and Sophie for outstanding service.

Carole, Geoff and Sophie were all very nice and helpful. Carole was especially brilliant as she was very careful and professional with our order, as my mum is gluten free. She went out of our way to make sure there was no cross contamination between our foods. It's not always easy to handle allergens in small food shops, but it was all handled really well by Carole and the team - I was pleasantly surprised and impressed. The prices were great as well - huge portions for very good prices - rare these days!

Perfect lil' chippy in Helmsley, I can only speak for the chips and chicken bites but they were absolutely terrific! Really light, thin and crispy batter on the chicken, which was really tasty too. Chips are bangin! Disclaimer in the shop about everything being cooked in beef dripping, which explains the great taste, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're a veggie... Top notch. See photos.

We were looking for somewhere to eat in Helmsley and spotted this chip shop which was due to be closing soon for eating in. The waitress Carole invited us in and said that we could eat in no problem. She was friendly and welcoming and was great with our children (age 5 and 3) engaging them in conversation. She spoke to us about the menu and about the sailors special which was Hake. None of us had tried this before and she offered to give us all a sample to see if we’d like to order it. We all loved it and ended up ordering 5 sailors specials. Carole kindly offered to split one between the two children and even gave them a small hot chocolate each instead of tea - the girls absolutely loved this! The fryers name was Sophie and our meals were cooked to perfection. This is a little hidden gem in Helmsley with wonderful staff that go above and beyond. We will definitely visit again if we’re in the area and would highly recommend it. Thank you!
