Mi Cocina Restaurant

Discovered this place 2 months ago. If you are in the mood for some good Dominican food this is the place. This place is clean, the food has always been good if not great, always made daily. Out of the Spanish restaurants around this area this is now officially my favorite. Their serving portions are very reasonable for their prices. The food has that good home made taste so you will always be satisfied. Yes I would recommend anyone reading this to go and try them out.

Numerous lunch special options for $7.00. I paid $9.00 and got the oxtail. (All lunch specials come with Rice & Beans). Generous portions all around. My meal was delicious. Decided to order 3 more lunch meals and cheese empanadas to go for dinner. 😁 Parking is a little tricky around lunchtime but the food is good enough to circle the block for. 👍

Horrible food ever. I made an order they didn’t send me what I ordered. Firstable, I ordered grilled chicken breast they sent me salted breast, secondly, I ordered steam fish. They didn’t seasoned it taste like nothing. Also I ordered fried chicken and they burned it. Nobody could ever eat that. This is the most horrible place in town. Wasted my money and time.

Good Dominican food at a good price. I asked what was good when I entered. The answer was, "Everything." I tried a few items. She was right! This is as close to mom's food as anyone can get. The people were so nice. I highly recommend it. The only reasons I didn't give 5 stars is because the eating area could be nicer and there is no dedicated parking - at least I didn't see one.

Yesterday Saturday I ordered delivery from Mi Cocina for the 1st time. I ordered a large Oxtail with Black bean Moro, large Sancocho with extra white rice and avocado salad. The Oxtail was tender and tasty, with true Dominican flavors. The black bean Moro was to perfection. I had an issue with the Sancocho though. A true authentic Dominican Sancocho has to have the following 7 meats (otherwise is just soup with vegetables): beef, goat, longaniza, pork, chicken, smoked ham & pork ribs. Or at the very least should have: beef, pork & chicken. But the one I got from Mi Cocina was a vegetable soup with pork chops, don't get me wrong it was tasty but it wasn't a Sancocho. This morning Sunday I stopped by (instead of ordering for delivery) to try the traditional 4 hits (a.k.a. 4 golpes) Dominican breakfast which consists of Mangú, Fried Cheese, Fried Dominican Salami, Fried Eggs & Fried Longaniza, and pickled onions. This breakfast was the tops! The mangù was so creamy, the cheese fried to golden crisp, the salami was soft, the Longaniza was just right not burnt and the egg (yes I only got 1 egg) was perfection. I wish it came with the traditional 2 eggs, otherwise it was one of the best 4 hits (4 golpes) breakfast I've had in a long time. I will definitely order and eat here again, although I will never order their version of what they call "Sancocho", but I'll try everything else. If they served a true Sancocho or at least one with 3 variation of meats I would have given Mi Cocina 5 stars.

The best Dominican food I have ever tried. I just had the sancocho. Oh my God. The best I have ever tried. I am Puerto Rican and Cuban so Dominican food is very similar and this is by far the best I’ve tasted. The meat is fresh and the soup is to die for. I also had a shrimp empanada that could have been stuffed with more shrimp but it was the best seafood empanada I’ve ever eaten. Their mango shake was delicious and beats Banana King on their best day. My new favorite Hispanic spot. Compliments to the chef!
