The service here is impeccable!
I'm usually known as the awkward one, as I'm coeliac and vegetarian, but here I felt it was really inclusive! I was spoilt for choice! The in house chef made my food from scratch! Gf pastry even!
The portions were super generous, and they even came round with extra roasties! Nothing was too much trouble, great knowledge of allergies and I felt like I was in safe hands.
Absolute 10/10. I'd give it more stars if I could.

A wonderful find. The menu choices, quality of food and service were excellent.
It was a rainy night when we went but the terrace overlooking the canal would be superb on a summer's evening.

I always try to find balance when writing a review, which usually means I can find fault with something. Two of us turned up without a booking for Sunday lunch, and I can only report that we were seated very quickly, received fantastic service, and as someone who has eaten roast dinners in a lot of chain pub (**EDIT the owner has right corrected me that this is not a "chain pub" - there is some tie to Marston's, but ownership appears to be independent**) had the best roast dinner in memory. Full marks to the staff and the chef.
We were probably lucky to have got a table as it did look busy, so would advise booking ahead during peak periods.

Wonderful setting right by the canal, ample free parking, didn't book and still got fed even though it was obviously very busy. Food was lovely...

We had the most amazing food and incredible customer service at the hourglass. Jim the landlord was brilliant with the kids, after a long journey from Swanage. He was so attentive and lovely. Really wonderful experience, the picnic sandwiches were awesome.

Sunday lunch was delicious overall. The service was friendly and attentive, and as we had a late booking we were offered extra roast potatoes and cauliflower with cheese. Good smoked mackeral pate and the beef brisket was great.

Lovely food particularly good for gluten free, and amazing service particularly with the children! Puddings have made their day!! Will definitely be visiting again.

We travelled an hour and a half to surprise a friend for her birthday, this place did not disappoint, food is amazing and so are the staff. I will definitely be making the trip again 🙂

As part of our annual Harley-Davidson rally season, a few of us pop into this outstanding pub on the way down to North Somerset. The team here are awesome and really go out of their way to welcome us and always look after us. The pub is in a wonderful location, on the waterside. I think they secretly love us all rolling in with our bikes 😉, but genuinely it is a welcome break with great food, drinks and hospitality. Thanks guys.

I don’t normally write reviews, but I couldn’t not share how fantastic the food is at the Hourglass! This is our go to every single Sunday (and to our surprise it just keeps getting better!)
Extremely attentive and friendly staff, top quality food and an all round lovely atmosphere- highly recommend to all.
