Great farm to table restaurant in the Des Moines East Village. Good cocktails, service is good, and everything we have tried on the food menu was good. Lamb shank is melt in your mouth! The filet steak special was delicious, and perfectly cooked as ordered as a true rare. The duck egg over pasta appetizer is also phenomenal, as was the basil bread pudding dessert. Certainly not inexpensive but it’s a fair value for the quality, service, and ambience. Definitely plan to return!

Food was excellent - dishes were flavorful & plated well. For a gourmet restaurant, their food was not just for "show" - it is locally sourced, wholesome, & filling. Atmosphere was upscale, but in minimalist sort of way - think factory loft apartment. The deserts were wonderful & they offered an extensive wine & cocktail list. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, had a wonderful experience.

Went here for a date night and was very excited about the seasonal menu and wine selections. The service was stellar and you could really tell there was a lot of thoughtfulness in the preparation of the food. I loved that we were asked about dietary restrictions and they gladly broke down every ingredient of their meals. Overall the food was good and everything was fresh. Really liked the burrito I got. My husband said the burger was good but didn’t enjoy the homemade ketchup. The duck egg was also good but felt it was missing acidity or something. Definitely a spot to go with a small group or just two people- wouldn’t suggest a large group.

I loved the place, this is the first restaurant i have been able to bring my better half to, she has immune issues and has had to eat a very strict diet for the past 10 years, Sarah (hostess and manager) was amazing with walking us through how everything was prepared and setting our minds at ease that allergies would not be an issue, our chef took the time to come out and even showed us that he cooks using the same Ghee that we use at home, the atmosphere was candle lit and quiet with attentive wait staff, we got our food in a timely manner (probably because it seems they are still practicing social distancing) and the food was prepared perfectly, the only issue I had was the portion size, we are on a ketovore/ carnivore diet and only eat once or a couple times a day, when it comes time to eating, we eat a lot, I ordered the steak and vegetables after a 20hr fast and was expecting a bit more food, not their fault, I ended up ordering more food and enjoyed a burger and a fried egg with a salad, I was still hungry but again, not their fault. I will continue to frequent HoQ, I will just pre eat something before I go. Great food, great staff and great prices.

My first night ever on Iowa Territory was nothing but exceptional. It was the first time in 2 years that me and my girlfriend will be spending some time together. So to celebrate our reunion and her graduation from Iowa State University, her brother made reservations to this fancy restaurant, where they say they do Farm to Table with every item. Let's see if it lived up to that meaning. From the outside, it looks very much like it was one of the office buildings that we passed it twice. But the inside looks so well clean, and well dressed up like a true fancy style restaurant. Before we all had our appetizers, we were served with a sample of the chef's onion rings and some Naan, which were amazing! For an appetizer, we had the pierogis and the cheese plate. The Pierogis were so soft and flavorful and had a touch of garlic to it! All of the cheese from the cheese plate were delightful to taste. My entree was the grass fed steak, cooked medium well, with their homemade tator tots, and cooked vegetables. Since I'm not an vegetable person, I just ate the steak and tots, which had a pan sauce which I believe was made after the steak was cooked. The steak was so tender that it melted in my mouth. The tator tots were cripy and soft and the pan sauce some how manage to accompliment them. But the fun isn't done as we finished off with their White Chocolate Raspberry Bread Pudding with homemade Vanilla Ice Cream. Overall i have had an AMAZING experience here and when I do go back to Iowa in the future, This place I will go back to get that steak once again. The staff is very friendly and recommended their favorite items! 10/10 Final Score!
