Fat Tuesday

First time going here and I enjoyed just sitting and waiting for my food. The ladies in the kitchen were nice and welcoming! I ordered the catfish, Cajun fries, Cajun green beans, greens, and fried pickles. Everything was so good!! Definitely will be putting them in my rotation! This definitely a restaurant everyone should know about!!

These pics weren't originally for posting, but to send to family back home in Louisiana. I'm in Iowa for a work assignment and found this spot. Nothing like finding somewhere that reminds you of home! I have been here a few times now and my taste buds have been over joyed each time. Everything gets a double plus all the way down to the tartar sauce. The taste is authentic southern cuisine and I'm so glad u found this spot. I'll be coming back more until my assignment is over. Oh, and they had wine also though it wasn't on the menu. Hope you give it a try!!

Food was good, but lunch took 40 min to cook and 5 to eat. We didn't get all our food at once. First my meal. Then half of my sons. Finally my Boyfriend's and my son's fries (which we took to go). The Mac n cheese looked like it was reheated in a microwave and wasn't very good, so they took that off the bill. We paid $45 for 3 meals with a military discount. So that's like a $1 for every minute we sat in the place. Staff was friendly.

I enjoyed lunch here with my wife we tried the sampler and I'm glad we did. Before arriving I had my heart on jambalaya but after tasting it I knew it wasn't for me, very dry less meaty than I'm accustomed to. The red beans and rice were as expected and good. The seafood gumbo was so good I got a small side to go with my blackened catfish po boy. The po boy was untrusted which would have vastly improved the bread. The quantity of catfish seemed sparse for the size of the French roll. The cornbread was good. The The etoufee was not my bag, kind of spicy gravy with a little meat over rice. The greens were tasty although heavier on vinegar than I prefer. The green beans were good and the potatoes in them were an interesting surprise. The Mrs enjoyed a spicy fried catfish entree which was delicious I wished I had gotten those filets on my po boy as the blackened seasoning was bland. All in $50 for lunch seemed reasonable for the variety we had.I would return for the food the waitress was fine the cook staff who essentially are staring at you when you arrive said nothing and acted like we weren't there.. I believe he was the owner as his picture was on the wall,, not sure if he was having a bad day but saying, hi welcome, have a seat we'll be right with you goes a long way, as does, thanks for stopping in.

We ventured to Fat Tuesday looking for real cajun cuisine and they didn't disappoint. Best authentic cajun food in DSM! The staff is friendly and the food is excellent. Cheesy grits just melt in your mouth good, fried okra is addictive just want more, flavorful and soft jalapeno cornbread, yummy cajun mac n cheese; those are just the sides. The sides are large shareable portions. I had the etouffee and my husband got the jambalaya both had some heat but oh so good. Great food, good prices and portions. Thanks for a great meal. Looking forward to a return visit.
