Truth Teller Winery

This was the first winery that the servers did not explain their wine. They gave you a menu, left, came back asked what we chose, left, came back with 2 glasses and two wines. Poured each one and said enjoy then walked away. Very odd behavior especially for partaking in a tasting. That’s why the 3 star rating. Service would be explained as cold. Now for the wine, it was all very good. We ended up purchasing 5 bottles. It is exceptionally reasonably priced as well. Just would ask for friendlier atmosphere!

We had the pleasure of meeting Chris the winemaker at our visit! He was incredibly personable and you could tell he puts his heart in the wine! Our group had an amazing time talking and tasting the wine on a warm Sunday afternoon! I highly recommend this winery. I even want to work for him and pour his wine that is how much fun we had! This is the only one of the 8 wineries we visited on our recent trip to Walla Walla I'm reviewing... mostly because the owner is so friendly, down to earth, and interesting (aerospace engineer, Peace Corps)... but also because the wines are witty/punny, creative (red & white blend), relatively affordable, and very tasty... and also because the owner was kind enough to assist me in my hunt to track down history on my great grandma who was purportedly a brothel madam in Walla Walla in the early 1920s - he even texted me some intel he tracked down, and it was useful intel!

Such a lovely atmosphere inside! I did a tasting with Laura who was very friendly and informative about the wines and the history of the winery. Their wines are absolutely amazing! My favorites were: Wisdom, Pun Intended, and Boldfaced Lie. All their wines are well balanced and very smooth. If you’re walking on Main Street make sure to stop into TruthTeller- this is a can’t miss!

The staff is super knowledgeable and welcoming at this quiet and fun tasting room! They have a great line up of wine and comfortable chairs by the window where you can people watch your way through a tasting or glass. There’s a ton of seats and small tables for groups, and plenty of parking right on Main Street.

I swear to tell the truth, and only the truth, about Truthteller Winery. Every single wine we tasted in their beautiful Walla Walla tasting room was delicious. Madman was a a favorite, but I loved all of their red blends. Clearly they know a thing or two thousand about varietals because their Washington reds are complex and delectable. Not that we stopped with the reds, of course. They described their rose as "sassy" -- and by golly, they were right! Great staff, friendly owners -- oh, and check out the photos for their adorable mascot. Bonus: we loved learning about how they came up with their name (go to their website to read about it).

While I live in Washington, I am pretty unfamiliar with Walla Walla wines. My wife and our friends spent a some nights here to get acquainted with the wines, and Truth Teller was by far our favorite. The owner was personable and didn't judge me for a lame joke I told in keeping with the theme.* My wife and I are used to the wines that come from the Chelan and Columbia Valley areas. Truth Teller's had some different varietals and approaches, but we enjoyed them just as much. Prices were reasonable, too. Overall, a highly recommended winery! * There are 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.
