I love Hy-Vee. I believe this company has done & will continue to do whatever it must to ensure its patrons have a good selection of grocery items. I stopped by yesterday & was greeted with a friendly smile by several employees whichi appreciated. Also had to ask twice for product location and young gal knew exactly. Thanks Hy-Vee!

Great produce section. Meat count good too. The smile in every aisle went away employees don't say hi anymore or ask I'd we need help. That was a big selling point for me... sign of the times I guess..
And for God's sakes get rid of walburgers we miss eating breakfast at ur restaurant.

Great store with solid sales and friendly, helpful staff. Clean space as well! Has good health food section with gluten free options, as well as nearby gas station.

Jenny the head cake decorator in Urbandale, Iowa
Hy-Vee very unprofessional. I called to ask a question in regards to ordering a cake for my husband's birthday next Wednesday and I was wanting to see if possible that they could decorate the cake somehow with small bottles of patron, and she immediately said no, but she could decorate the cake and I could put my own bottle RUDELY on the cake. Before I could ask the next question she just kept going on and on not giving me a chance to talk. I asked her if she was the manager and she answered no, but she is the head cake decorator and asked if I wanted to speak with whomever the manager was.. My biggest problem is try listening instead of RUDELY talking over the customer. Ppl spend good money visiting Hy-Vee and it makes management seem as though we the customers don't matter.

I had a bad experience a couple of weeks ago with the $10 steak dinner. Mentioned it to Hy-Vee and they made it right. It is nice to know that there are companies out there that will believe in customer service. Thanks Jake.

Why can't cashiers sit?
Aldi does it just fine.
Let cashiers sit, them standing doesn't make my checkout experience better knowing some poor human being has to be on their feet needlessly all day.
Be better.

We have lived out of state the past 39 years, but we went through high school and college working at both of the Urbandale Hy-Vee locations, have told our kids many stories of the great times and (mostly great) people, working for minimum wage, 1970-79. That said, I feel sorry for anyone who works here now or shops here infrequently like us out of towners; got a lot of steps on my Fitbit going in circles trying to find provisions for family. I struggled to see much reason for the layout, lack of apparent interest in a common sense traffic flow within the store, poor placement of products, and nothing to make it easy to find things on our list. Took us over half an hour to find 16 things on our list. It surely must be by design, to keep people wandering the store, impulse buying all the way. And no Helpful Smiles to be seen. This place tries to be everything for everyone, but fails in my book (although I am sure they are making boatloads of money anyway). I know times have changed but if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'm no longer proud to have been an "alumnus" of this company.

Prices here are WAY too high. $5 for frozen. Strawberries when Walmart has them for $1.98? And so many other unnecessary price hikes in basic every-day items. For how little they pay their employees, it amazes me that they have their prices so high. Also, locational pricing is a sad scam. Why not just have consistent pricing throughout all of your locations? Pretty ridiculous that stuff at one location is $1 or 2 higher than other locations. I really can't stand this grocery store, but they're one of the only corporate monstrosities that seem to carry things I'm looking for. They need to pay their employees better, or lower some of their prices. This is ridiculous.
