A great place to have a relaxing/romantic chat with others. We ordered lots of starters and nibbles as they all sounded amazing on the menu, which also turned out to be very tasty and flavorsome. The fresh scallops dressed 3 ways were absolutely a must try, so was the octopus carpaccio! The fried mochi was unique and great with a drink, so was the edamame. Agedashi tofu was soft on the inside and perfectly textured on the outside. The grilled miso fish was nicely seasoned. They did a modern take of the mochi ice cream, which was nice but needed more mochi for my liking. Overall great service, loved sitting out the back in the private garden, and delicious food.

The food here is fantastic. Decorated in a traditional Japanese style to look like a small wooden shed you might find in a back alley in Tokyo or Kyoto, this place offers a modern but earnest take on Japanese dining. The food is immaculately presented, baked up by flavours and perfectly cooked and well sourced ingredients. We had Unagi (eel) which the owner said he had sourced by trying tens of sources before deciding this was the best he could get outside of Japan. The home made (by mum) Japanese Rare Cheesecake for dessert finished off a perfect meal. Amazingly friendly and attentive staff too. Be sure to book as the place is small, but more than worth your time!

A little expensive but really worth it. The food, the mochi, and cheesecake was amazing and the service was excellent. The chef came out to the backyard where we sat and talked to us briefly about how he got to opening the restaurant. He intentionally reduced the restaurant opening hours so he can refresh his menu regula rly His food really showed case the combination of Japanese, French, creativity and uniqueness.

The food was delicious! We ordered the nasudengaku (miso glazed eggplant) for starters (really lovely) followed by kakuni pork and their special fried rice. We chose the cheesecake and sesame ice cream for dessert. All in all, I really enjoyed the food and will most likely come back to try the rest of the menu. The staff was nice and the setup of the restaurant ok (sort of a heritage little house with some Japanese decorations.

Very fresh and expertly cut sashimi ($42 for 20pc assortment of 6 varieties; $25 for tuna belly toro). Karaage chicken was juicy, karaage octopus well fried. Ochazuke rounded out the meal nicely. Overall very good value for the quality of food served. Lovely neighbourhood joint. Will return!

Drop by for a quick dinner today and what a wonderful discovery of a neighbourhood gem near work. High quality produce beautifully cooked the proper way and taste right, not some western style Japanese flavour. Staff were friendly and one looking almost identical to the young Kimutaku. Will be back soon for other dishes.
