Serendipity Cafe

Delicious, Southern-style cuisine. Not the place to eat at often if you're watching your diet, but absolutely amazing place, especially for their catering! They can seat up to 150 people in their beautiful upstairs loft-type area and serve that many people warm amazing food in a timely manner. I definitely recommend this place for a casual lunch, a romantic lunch/evening out, and especially a large office party!

Went to this location for a gathering/dance. Venire was somewhat difficult to locate as the sign was rather small so when driving up keep your eyes peeled. They have two floors with a bar om the lower and plenty of overflow spcae upstairs for any activity you are hosting. There is a stage deck and everything, and the food catered was great!!! Definitely recomend.

I am very disappointed with the service I received from Serendipity today! I placed an order for a Red Velvet Cake 2 weeks ago for Thanksgiving. I was told to pick it up between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm. I arrived at the restaurant today around 2:00 pm and was told they had no Red Velvet Cakes left! According to the owners, they miscounted the orders and even though they usually have 5 extra, those were gone as well. I was told the ones that picked their cake up early were able to get theirs. They didn't even bother to call and let me know they no longer had Red Velvet cakes... they had my phone number because I had to leave a message when I ordered my cake and the owner called me back to confirm my order. On top of that, they didn't even care enough to try and compensate me for their mistake and my inconvenience! They went on to tell me what other cakes they did have available.... pound cakes, Italian cream, german chocolate and a couple of others I'm not sure of; and told me I could purchase one of those at the same price that I would have paid for the Red Velvet Cake!!!! No type of discount for my inconvenience whatsoever!!! I don't eat coconut so two of those options were out and I make my own pound cakes, I just don't make Red Velvet Cakes. I was so furious and disappointed! This was my main dessert for Thanksgiving Dinner and here it is the day before Thanksgiving and now I have to figure something out. That was very unprofessional and I was really surprised because I did not expect that type of behavior from a professional establishment such as Serendipity. I guess I will have to try and learn how to make Red Velvet cakes or find another bakery that bakes them well.

I live in Virginia and my 90 year old grandparents live in Sumter. They had a very rough day yesterday and my grandmother kept saying "All I wanted was an apple pie." I looked up different bakeries, called a few but none would deliver. Then I reached Deloris at Serendipity Café & Catering. She was SO pleasant and professional. They took my order over the phone and delivered the pie to my grandparents the same day. My grandmother called me so excited she was in tears. She said the pie was still warm and absolutely delicious. A HUGE THANK YOU to Deloris and the staff at this Café. You made her day! I will have to stop by at your establishment when I come to visit them soon!

Yummie, great staff, excellent food, vety clean and well kept establishment. Has a huge area to host parties upstaits. No elevator or handicapped access upstairs. Good parking area out fron on Main. Close to shopping, hotel and entertainment. Awesome staff. Very polite and helpful. The food is great. Home cooked and delicious varity. Lots of good healthy options. Best sweet tea in Sumter.

Realize that having a Web presence carries a very big responsibility to be responsive in addition to providing quality products/services. I found this business after a Google search for entertainment venues in Sumter SC. I spoke to co-owner Mrs Green on Tuesday who said she'd return a call to me to check if the date I wanted was available. No return call and two messages later, I've scratched this establishment from my list. Very unprofessional; not gonna beg anyone to take my business. This is another reason why Black businesses fail..
