Summit House

This is an excellent restaurant to grab drinks and dinner. It has a modern fun vibe and it’s great for a group dinner. The cocktails were fantastic - one person in my group even said the margarita is the best they’ve ever had. I also enjoyed the gin based blackberry cocktail. The appetizers were delicious - the ricotta was soft and light, the beets and cauliflower had a hint of candied pecans which were a pleasant surprise. You can skip the fall salad - a little tart for my taste and not very inventive. The tuna appetizer had a great vinaigrette that matched nicely. For dinner, the pasta, chicken, and pork chops were a hit. The desserts weren’t standout - I’d save room and eat more savory at this restaurant. The service was excellent. And it’s also located in downtown summit, so it’s a cute place to walk around either before or after dinner.

Solid selections for lunch, really nice restaurant with great staff and friendly service. Chose the lunch special, which was okay but a bit tough on the steak and eggs. Steak was definitely well done which was always a tough way to eat it, with a set up egg which was a nice touch, but the potatoes and steak were way too greasy. Dulce leches ice cream was good though. Want to come back and try their chicken at dinner, that was highly recommended.

So according to my refined drinking buddy, this place has the best Manhattan he’s ever had. And my friend has had a lot of Manhattans! Of course, you can’t get a table at a restaurant and just order a few cocktails. We’ll, maybe if you ordered enough cocktails LOL. Anyway, after putting in our orders: scallops with bacon for me, some dinner rolls and butter was brought to our table. My friend, who is a very healthy and picky eater had to ask for another round of bread! I don’t usually get scallops but they tasted very fresh with a light sear on top. Of course, there’s almost nothing that a little bacon can’t help. As for the Manhattan … it was kind of ok. It was smooth but it felt a little single dimensional - just basically one flavor. It was good but not what I expected from a high end cocktail. The ambiance was very nice and maybe it was to improve the social distancing, but we were seated in a line of smaller tables in the hallway connecting the front to the back room.It’s just that the entrance to the bathroom was in that hallway. Kind of awkward. But the service was great and the decor was dripping with cool suburban vibe.

We haven’t been back to Summit House til tonight and we were so amazed at how elevated the menu with the new chef was! The overall service was exceptional and Jonathan C was wonderful and attentive. We had the whipped ricotta, crispy octopus and seared tuna for appetizers. Our 7 year old ordered from the kids 3 course meal, the macaroni and cheese was wow! Overall we’re glad we found a new favorite restaurant nearby!

If not the best, one of the top restaurants in Summit. The menu is delicious, and changes seasonally so the ingredients are always fresh and tasty. The cocktails are phenomenal, and I highly recommend their Smoke on the Water. They also have top notch service - shoutout to our amazing server John. They have phenomenal starters such as the ricotta and beet salad for fall. I also got an off-menu vegetarian special, which was a curried chickpea dish with veggies and rice. Super tasty and quite a large plate! We finished the night with baked Alaska. SK delicious and unique with a house-made orange sorbet and a chocolate cake. Highly recommend this spot!!!

Disappointed! We have been dining at SH for years and always enjoy sitting at the tables with a view of the kitchen. It has been a wonderful experience until last night... As we enjoyed our appetizers, I watched a station chef lick serving spoons after each plate was prepared for delivery to the tables, then return the spoon to water before using it on the next round of dinner plates. This went on for almost an hour before we questioned a server (who told us they were experiencing a shortage of spoons - no joke), our lovely waitress and finally the manager. When we spoke with the manager he justified the behavior by: 1) telling me the chef was tasting the food before plating (which was not true as the licking occurred AFTER the food was placed on the plate, and 2) the spoons were being sterilized in 190 degree water (which was also not accurate; although the temp may have been high enough, there was no guarantee each spoon sat in the water long enough to remove the chef's germs from the spoon). The manager was dismissive and made me another plate that I did not eat. We are still in a pandemic and that was not only unacceptable, but deeply concerning. When I asked the manager if he would be okay with his explanation being included in my review of the experience, he responded "Yes"; thus this review and rating will not be a surprise to him. Ironically, the chef did cease with the spoon licking after I voiced my concerns, so if the behavior was totally acceptable, why did it change?
