Sushi Ya

Their sushi is disgusting. The special rolls aren’t even using real fish. Look at the food die they are adding to a minced spicy tuna?!!! Wth is that ? Is that rice crispies or rice pate in that special spicy roll. It tasted gross and the real fish had some weird white ‘mayo’ milk mix that was also nasty. Do not eat sushi in Sparta - it’s a joke. Go get it from the super market if you want better quality.

I ate here for the first time recently and ordered tuna, salmon and yellowtail rolls. The tuna was only average quality, probably less than average. It was lean except for some stringy fat, which was not great. The yellowtail was also not a great cut and had inconsistent color throughout because of the use of lower quality fish. Despite this, the flavor was good. The salmon, on the other hand, was good. The fat ratio was very good and was very rich. It's what I expect of a good salmon roll. The clear soup was great. I'd eat here again, for sure.

I have been going here for a few years now. I have never been disappointed. Owners are lovely people and the food is always delicious and fresh. My husband and I love that it is BYOB and we often make a date night out of it. I love the Naruto roll, all of the sashimi, the Out of Control Roll and the yellowtail with jalapeno's (I don't recall the name). I highly recommend this place. I am very cautious and picky when it comes to Sushi due to its potential to make you very sick if not handled and prepared correctly. But I have never had a single concern with repeatedly eating here. Give it a try! On another note - Its sad to see how mean people are here in their reviews. I wonder if they even had the decency to contact the restaurant or say something while they were there so their issues could be corrected. Things happen sometimes and that is just the nature of life. If you have a problem or if something didn't meet your standards say something! Don't potentially ruin the reputation of a family owned local restaurant that works very hard by your thoughtless reviews. This is a real business with real people who support their families by working here.

We have been dining at Sushi Ya since our kids were little - our youngest not even in Kindergarten. Now they are in high school! It isn’t easy eating out with 3 little kids but this restaurant always make it work for us. Even though we moved 30 minutes away we always come back for a quick meal whenever we can. The staff is always pleasant, the premises are clean, and the food is fresh, flavorful and prepared just right. We had not been here since before quarantine but were luckily able to go tonight. We were happy to find out that nothing had changed and the food was as delicious as it always has been. We have been to many Japanese restaurants in the area -!but for a casual, family dinner, Sushi Ya will always be #1 for us.
