This restaurant is currently closed with a notice stating "business for sale". Shame, as the place was really nice.

Just had to write a review. Just popped in tonight for a take out chicken Tikka madras. Absolutely lovely. Couldn't fault it. Its rare these days that restaurants cook currys like the old days for the English taste. My daughter had a chicken korma a few months ago and that was beautiful. Love love this food. Place should be a lot busier.

I am a fan of slightly surreal restaurant experiences. Especially one where there are plenty of 'faults' but they add up to a rather pleasant meal and a delightful night. Tonight was no exception to that rule. Radha I was the first Indian we came across walking up London Road and so we decided to give it a go. Upon entering I tried to ask if they accepted cards as well as cash (you can never be too careful in these places) but the waiter looked like a rabbit in headlights, so I gave up and we were shown to our seats, given menus and then left alone. Slightly thirsty after our trek from the university tram stop we were hoping to be offered drinks, but we were to be left parched for a while longer. Eventually the waiter came back and took our food order, before disappearing again. We had to prompt to order drinks! To give them the benefit of the doubt this might be because Radhuni does not have an alcohol licence and operates on a bring your own booze basis. Neither my partner or myself drink though, so we were hoping for at least the offer of an over priced coca-cola. Next time we will sneak in grape juice in a wine bottle! All that said - the service was perfectly friendly. Just a bit back to front. We started with the Indian staple of poppadoms. Unusually these had obviously been cooked from fresh, rather than pulled from a pile somewhere in the kitchen. This meant they were still warm, perfectly crisp and incredibly tasty. The pickles were home made and a sign of good things to come. The food was delicious, all cooked fresh to order and the star of the show. The yoghurt dressing had obviously been freshly creamed in the kitchen - it was light, full of air and flavour. When our mains arrived it was obvious that the chef takes pride in his food. They were well presented, portions were a decent size but not overwhelming and as per the starter all were freshly cooked from scratch. This meant a bit of a wait, but it was well worth it. The spices were not overwhelming, the chicken was succulent and clearly had been marinaded beforehand, rather than being quickly rolled in spices prior to being cooked. Our garlic naan was probably the best naan I've ever had. It's all too easy to pour over half a bottle of garlic oil and you're left with nothing but the pungent smell and taste of garlic. This was different - freshly chopped garlic and parsley meant you got a decent garlic infusion, but it was still safe to kiss afterwards. The rice was complement by saffron which gave it both flavour and a proper Indian colour. It all looked and tasted the part. The food was the star of the show, so we decided to stop there, declined dessert and coffee and headed out into a wet Sheffield night, pleased at finding a little gem. We paid £30 for two, including poppadoms, two main courses and non-alcoholic drinks. We took our leftovers home and had them for breakfast the next day, pretending we were students all over again.
