Deerfields Bakery

It started with "I'll just have a small piece..."...in love with the cinnamon roll as I type. The buttermilk donut thingy (bottom left) and red velvet cake are equally impressive. Pity they didn't have any sandwiches today - was looking forward to the whole deal. The bakery is nice and big, staff is really friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

This is by far the worst experience my family had with Deerfield Bakery in Schaumburg. We've had instances in the past with rude service and passive racism especially in the mid '00s, but we kept coming back because we liked the quality of their chocolate cakes. Not anymore. First, the associates were actively avoiding our family to help. An older white male came in and out of the store with a cake purchase while our and another family of color were still waiting on our cake purchases. They then overcharged our cake, where it took some time to show them the correct pricing. It took 10 minutes to convince one of two associates to write "Happy Birthday Manasi" -- which had been clearly written on a paper. The older female associate kept on saying she had to ask the younger male associate if that could be done. The younger male associate finally took a piece of chocolate only to write "Happy Birthday" and stated there was not enough room for the name AFTER the fact when questioned. And yet, this male associate had enough room to write "Happy Birthday Brian" on the cake of the customer ahead of us? Wow, good to know that 1 skinny letter made all the difference. Also, the sloppy handwriting was unwarranted, frankly...unnacceptable no matter who walks into any bakery. There used to be two other associates (but they probably only work on weekends or mid-week, we presume?) that were always great with helping us select a cake and write a lovely note on the chocolate. However, after this experience we are no longer comfortable with this bakery. We hope it gets better, but we do not see that happening soon based on our experiences. Lastly, this is not as much of a concern, but the best buy sticker is marked 23 -- not sure if that meant best buy to eat or best by to sell. Either way, this cake was purchased after the 23rd.

I have purchased many items over the years, but never thought to write a review until now. (Or if I did, I have forgotten!) The Passover macaroons were out of this world! They are not coconut, but the French style meringue macarons or more like amaretti cookies. You can buy them plain, chocolate dipped or filled with apricot or raspberry with a chocolate half dip. Their iced butter cookies for all holidays are also excellent. I purchased a Yule Log cake one year at Christmas and it was perfect. But my favorite purchase had to be a baby shower cake of the Hungry, Hungry Caterpillar. It was made out of a round cake for the head and the body was made out of cupcakes. Sorry you can't see all of the details, but they were done very well and it was delicious. I used it for the centerpiece and it was loved by all. Thank you, Deerfield's for being my go-to bakery when I need something special. You have never disappointed me.

From tiny egg sized holiday treats to custom cakes they have a huge selection of ready made sweets and treats alike to grab on the go. Their rewards club gives you a free cupcake when you sign up and with rewards you with a 2nd on your birthday. Amazing breads cut to order, just ask they take credit cards and have coffee as well as a small sitting section and a variety of beverages too. Their frosting is not my favorite and cake can tend be a bit dry ( this the 4 stars) needs two full days to a week on most orders. See their full list of menus online.

This is the third cake I have bought from Deerfields Bakery and it was more delicious than the previous two. They have never disappointed me. They decorate the cakes so beautifully even when I am not sure what I want, the suggestions are great and the cake looks beautiful AND all the guests at the showers I have had for my daughter rave about the cake. Thank you for being the delicious ending to beautiful day.

They have been doing our bday cakes for 7 years and every cake gets rave reviews from the party goers...from the taste to the style. Not to mention, the customer service is excellent...from the ladies in the actual store to the service over the phone when I needed to make changes. I highly recommend them for your pastry needs, especially the cakes!
