El Mexicano

hands down me and my partners favorite restaurant. i thought i’ve had good mexican food until i tried this place!! we’ve been here multiple times and order takeout a fair share from here as well, and our orders have always been correct and tasted like heaven. good job and thank you for being my favorite stop!

This was my second time visiting this restaurant and I really enjoyed it. I had the Hongos Portabella Ensalada and the churros, both of which were fantastic. It wasn't too crowded even though they were rather busy, the atmosphere was wonderful. Service was prompt and I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience overall. Highly recommend.

We ordered wings and steak tips for appetizers and for main course I ordered the chicken chimichanga and my girlfriend got the beef and bean burrito along with an adult beverage for each of us. Not one part of the meal was good. The wings were overcooked to the point they were inedible as were the "steak tips". Then the main course came out worryingly fast. So fast that, as a professional chef of 25 years, i knew everything was premade. Chunks of the chicken in my chimichanga were still cold, my girlfriend's burrito was flavorless and clearly prepared ahead of time. The only thing that some people might see as a positive thing was the drinks were super strong....But I think they were just trying to get us drunk so we didn't realize that the food was terrible. Staff was friendly but that doesn't make up for any of it unfortunately.

I never leave negative reviews, but wow is this place bad. Staff is uninterested, lazy, and flat out rude. A kid is sprinting up and down the aisles while I'm waiting for somebody to talk to us. Waiter walks away in the middle of my mother asking questions. The same waiter is sitting at the table behind ours, gabbing with his friends about how he doesn't care about his job. Separately from all of that, my father saw a living cockroach walking under the wall/bathroom area. Overall, we didn't even wait to get our food because we were out. Would give a zero if Icould, place should be out of Business with staff like this. Absolutely a clown show, I have no idea how this has the rating it does. Must be bots/paid for. Go to the Applebee's next door, at least they have a working microwave.

1st time for my husband and I at El Mexicano Restaurant in Sanford, ME and we weren't disappointed! Lots of choices, generous portions, fresh ingredients, good flavor, beautiful presentation and excellent service. I had 2 different kinds of tacos w/rice and beans. My husband had fajitas. And price? Could not believe how much food we got for not a lot of $.
