Freedom Bakery

Horrible and hilarious experience trying to place an order. I called the Freedom Bakery in Salinas for their Hawaiian Cake Delight. I requested they also add custard cream to the filling. They refused to add the custard filling because "it wouldn't taste good"...lol. I love custard filling in my cakes. They should be ashamed for pushing their own taste preference to others.

I have been buying cakes from Lisa well over 13 years now. Never dissapoints, always delicious, not over sweet, the bread is never dry. If you’re into fondant style cakes that taste like paper- then this place is not for you. If you love a delicious, spongy cake, then you have to try a cake from here. I randomly get an 8” round black and white with whip cream, whip cream filling with fresh banana. Oh my, it’s the ultimate (fresh strawberries is even better)!! About the guy who stated mediocre service; I don’t know what type of service you would expect when ordering a cake. Do you want a red carpet laid out? Lisa is a simple and honest individual who knows how to make the best cakes in Monterey county. If you want special treatment then I would suggest going somewhere where they’ll sell you an overpriced piece of dry bread with fondant on top to make it look pretty. We recently moved to the Fresno/Clovis area and I’ve yet to find a place that is nearly close to Freedom’s cakes. Every chance we get to go back and visit family we stop by to order an 8”. Try this place, you will not be disappointed. Move to Clovis Lisa, we need you :-)

Our family bought a Hawaiian Delight cake from Freedom Bakery on Market St. in Salinas for our grandmother’s 90th birthday. The piece that was served to Grandma had a small, about 4” half circle shaped stainless steel piece inside the cake. Thankfully Grandma was not hurt by it. The next day, this was reported to Freedom Bakery but they did not make it right, acknowledge the issue or anything. Instead they chose to lose long time customers by denying that piece of metal came from their equipment! IT WAS BAKED INSIDE THE CAKE! Family has always bought their cakes from Freedom Bakery, not anymore. It’s a shame Freedom Bakery did not provide proper customer service!
