Au Lac

Great little vegan place! We had Mongolian delight, Mongolian wonder, and sweet and sour nuggets with vegetable fried rice and fried egg rolls. All was delicious; I highly recommend the eggrolls. The fried rice was exactly what we needed - broccoli, carrots, sliced seitan / soy protein bits, beans, and peas. The restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived, but we got there off times. I would like to try their lunch specials! Very kind and helpful staff!

Rustic gem with good Chinese-American vegan fare (doesn't seem to come up in Google maps when one searches for Chinese-- found by happy accident). This place is what I lovingly call a "mock meat joint" but which also has vegetable entrees. On par with Noble Vegetarian and Vegan Deadly Sins, just in a different part of town. Rice is not included with entrees, something I miss from East Coast dining. Food and tables are very clean, but restroom could use a "woman's touch." Service is great, they are *trying.* Lunch specials on select weekdays. Prices are higher than old pre-pandemic photos from old reviews would indicate, still worth a try if you're in the area.

Good quick service and great vegan food! We ordered the 'chicken' drumstick which is a fried soy drumstick. We also ordered the Mongolian 'beef', orange 'chicken,' pineapple fried rice, and Au Lac which is a large piece of soy 'meat' sliced with sauce and salad. All the dishes were delicious and had distinct different flavors. My only complaint was the batter on the orange chicken was very thick, I usually like it thinner (I've had some great orange soy chicken in SF so I've been spoiled!). Would definitely come back, the prices are very reasonable as well!
