Mindful Brewing

Food was very underwhelming and lacked flavor, could have really used a kick of salt on multiple items like Mac n Cheese and pierogi. I feel like the quality of food was good, it was fresh and hot, just underseasoned. My sandwich was delicious, I got the caprese and would def order it again. Just knocking off a point for seasoning.

Too early to get to bed and I'd already had dinner, so Mindful was my brewery stop of the evening. I found easy parking and the place was mildly busy on a weeknight so plenty of people coming and going. My bartender was friendly and I took her recommendation for my beverage. I enjoyed their "Italian Pilsner" and sat at a table with my laptop to sip and write Yelp reviews. Comfy space, excellent beer, delicious looking food and I enjoyed my time thoroughly.

***Updated Review - I’m happy to say the previous experience was just a one off day. We went back and the doors are back open yay! We also had the opportunity to meet one of the new owners (Hunter?) who totally made things right. Also want to add as regulars we always have the best service both outside and at the bar! We also really like the new weekend food specials, they are always good and it’s fun to try something different! We come here a lot and usually 5 stars. We stopped in on Sunday and left disappointed. The doors to the bar/outside were closed. That was part of the atmosphere and vibe that we loved. Bartender said the new owners are trying to cut back on the cost of air conditioning. It was a 70 degree day. Next they were out of all my favorites- pizza soft pretzels nachos and perogies. I’m sure we will be back but so disappointed with this trip. Mindful Brewing Company is a true local delight of the Castle Shannon area! Our secret was going at the right time (opening). By the time we left on a Sunday, it was PACKED. This is a perfect place for a family lunch or dinner in the spring or summer. They let you bring your dog on the premises if you eat outside. There’s fake grass, (I think) fake fire pits with lawn chairs for gatherings, and of course picnic tables with umbrellas for the shade. The food is fantastic with a personality of its own. I ordered the nachos grande with chicken and couldn’t have been happier with it. The staff is wonderful and kind and it’s a very cute and fun environment! We’d definitely recommend coming here.

Had a great experience at Mindful Brewing when visiting a from out of town. They were able to easily accommodate our party of 9, the service was great, large selection of drinks (you could go pick a drink from the fridges if you wanted too and they just added it to our bill), prices were fair, have TVs to watch, and the food was good! Would definitely come back out next time in Pittsburgh.

The fried chicken here is FANTASTIC 😋 I got the buttermilk fried chicken and the breading is so flavorful and crispy I could snack on it all day long. The ranch dressing is so damn good I could drink it out of the cup!!! & The wood fire pizza 🍕 is delicious 🤤🤤🤤 I recommend getting a side of balsamic glaze to dip your pizza in. I wish that the mac and cheese was better, it was very watery and had no flavor & I wish they have a happy hour menu. Prices are a little steep for the portions.

Beer? $12 for a 64oz growler and it tastes like that? Sign me up. Fries? Mine were noticeably better than my friend's order of fries. Not bad, but still kinda potato-y. Probably frozen. Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich? For one outside of Nashville, yeah, pretty darn good. Crunchy, tender chicken. IMHO could have been hotter and have a bit more of the depth of flavor and maybe a sauce. Also the bun was a bit too thick. This is a big sandwich though and it hits the spot. Towards the end of the night, I sampled the beer cheese on a fry. I was not prepared for what I would encounter. Looking up, angels were descending to let us taste the ambrosia of ages past. I cowered in fear, but they restored my strength with their manifold voices in holy choir, and emplored me to taste and see that what the LORD provided was good. I had to sit in quiet contemplation of the flavor revelation bestowed upon me from up high. I didn't want to believe the hype, but the hype is real and it believes in me with the knowledge. I will spread the message of this beer cheese far and wide so that all might drink from the fountain of mirth and feast at the cornucopia of comfort. Be thou blessed in thy journey, dear reader.
