Mako Bowl

I came here to try the Teriyaki bowl. It's not as good as other places. The one thing I saw make me disgusted was I saw one of the lady's were sweeping the floor, and used the same broom to sweep near the food cooking equipment. I don't see any notable signs that says if they have a food handlers certificate like other food places. They lady at the counter who took my order, instead of handing it to me, she just tossed under the plexiglass instead of laying it down carefully. Rude. I won't be coming here again.

I always liked this eatery where l can grab a quick bite of casual Japanese food. They offer affordable fast food that is satisfying. I tend to get their small chicken bowl, chicken sandwich, or Japanese fried chicken. Sometimes I order green tea. There's free 1 hour street parking nearby along Mentor Ave. They're located on the corner at the intersection, on the first floor.

Came here for dinner. It is located in a single story small strip mall. It isn't very difficult to find. There are, or at least were, one who took the order, and another who seemed to be both a server and one who helps to keep the place clean. Menu: a fair and decent variety of beef, chicken, pork, and duck. However, there are, or at least were during the visit, fewer choices in duck compared to the other meats. Since the menu prices have changed from the opening, the prices were written over in pen. There are various classic dishes in the beef, chicken, pork, and the duck choices. As for vegetarian choices, the are some, but very few. There are no vegan choices. Salt: one at our table did add salt, and a healthier choice another used pepper. The dishes served were decently seasoned with room for personal preferences. It took about 10 minutes from order to being served. Ambiance. Best described as family/casual. A few families had entered after our party did. It is a little small, yet cozy and comfortable. It is also nicely decorated. Parking. There is sufficient space for all businesses to have customers, and if the lot is ever full then the street parking can be utilized. Service. It is pretty timely. If you can make eye contact, or other attention getter with a server like most other restaurants then anything else that may be needed is yours. The server was ready to help when asked for. Overall a very good experience. There is room for improvement. You should visit. It is located at the Northeast corner of E. Colorado Blvd and Sierra Madre Blvd (there are 2 [two] Sierra Madre streets in Pasadena, one is Sierra Madre Blvd and the other is Sierra Madre Villa, and they do intersect in the Eastern side of Pasadena 91107) across from both the Von's grocery store to the West and the Walgreens to the South, and has a large Bar 'N Grill on the corner for easy identification knowing you have found it. It's not an authentic Japanese restaurant, but I enjoy it anyway! My favorites are BBQ beef, teriyaki beef, tempura and grilled chicken udon. The regular boiled chicken in udon is horrible, so I always ask for grilled chicken instead, that makes a world of difference. I haven't tried their sushi because it's a low pricing restaurant so I don't expect much from them. I go there very often and the place is quite clean, servers are very friendly. Definitely one of my favorite places to go when I want something hot, cheap and good!

The lady working the counter that takes orders had poor customer service and was unapologetic for the mishap of missing items for the order I phoned in. A simple apology would of been ok but she decided to play it like she didn't do anything wrong. If that continues, I'm afraid this place will lose business for sure.
