Island Gypsy

The atmosphere sells this place. It is completely outdoors and borders a marina. On a nice day it is a great way to take time for a meal or drink. We had the grouper sandwich and it was tasty. A little small in terms of portion size. Service was nice, the server just did a little over selling the drinks and dessert. The gift shop next door is small but had some interesting apparel in terms of colors and type of ware. We are glad to have checked it out.

What wizardry do they use on their French fries?? Who knows, keep doing it!! Holy cow this girl was in French fry heaven, might even say the best I’ve ever had. It was so good that we had lunch here two days in a row. Fried grouper sandwich, peel and eat shrimp, cuban sandwich were all delicious. Cocktails were appropriately tropical and yummy. Key lime pie and carrot cake both homemade and yummy. Setting is perfect.

We enjoyed Island Gypsy. Had tried to go during the season and it was impossible. It is a very popular place. The location is very nice, with nice views of the small marina. The food is very good and so is the service. We ordered a hamburger and a lobster roll. My husband was satisfied with the hamburger and french fries. I liked the roll with a generous portion of tasty lobster. Nice place , but not the best on the island. We enjoyed it for a light lunch but not planning to return. There are a lot of nice places with nice views and good on the island.

Heard from each local person I asked and this is the ONE that everyone mentioned, and for Good Reason! Exceptional attention from our server and the Highest quality of food. Truly enjoy the outdoor experience and conversations, while always having the water glass full. Island Gypsy is a staple out our travel to the island! PS - even if you don’t eat carrot cake- you must have this one once- and then you can decide.

Overall pretty good and would go back. Quick to be seated; no wait on Thursday night at 6:45pm. Friendly staff. Fast food service. Peel your own shrimp basket was seasoned and cooked well. Blackened Grouper was over cooked and dry. Fried Mahi Mahi Sandwich was tasty and cooked well. Strong pour on the alcoholic beverage. Key Lime Pie slice was the best we had all week while on vaca!! Carrot cake slice was like 20% of a cake, a ridiculous portion size, but tasty. We requested to be seated by the railing so we could view the wildlife and boats better. Gift shop had local, useful and usual souvenirs.

We really enjoyed the food here! The coconut shrimp was one of the best I've ever had. The Lobster "N"euben Sandwich was unbelievably phenomenal! It made it to my top fave sandwiches! The Smokin Cubano Sammy was also very good. No food was wasted here. The frozen drinks / coladas were dangerous! Dangerous, because it is so good and so easy to slurp that you forget it has alcohol. Their pricing is definitely on the upper scale, but with our food experience, it was well worth it! Will definitely be part of our stop when going back for a visit.
