Cafe Universal

I recently visited this charming cafe in Mumbai, and I was absolutely captivated by its amazing vintage ambiance. The interior decor, filled with retro touches and cozy corners, creates a unique and welcoming atmosphere. As for the food, it was nothing short of lip-smacking. Every dish I tried was a burst of delicious flavors, and the presentation was equally impressive. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to my friends and family for a delightful dining experience.

We were five friends meeting. To chat, chat and chat. Town restaurants like you to eat and exit. No pressure was put on us to order fast. Aur kya aur kya did not happen. Draft Beer is by various pitcher capacity so bigger the group more fun. Mutton cutlet was good but large. Need three to finish as we had ordered multiple food. I loved the egg cheese omlete sandwich. Not crowded. Comfortable seating. Excellent loo. Very clean. Top class service. Polite and not intrusive. We met the owner couple.

Old-world charm in beautiful Ballard Estate. Even though it's on the main road, it is easily missed as the façade blends in with the neighbouring buildings. The small entrance belies a spacious and cool interior. My visit was blessedly peaceful, arriving as I did to beat the lunchtime crowd. I tucked into the club sandwich before I could take a picture! It was stuffed to the brim with all good things - buff, chicken, pork, eggs and cheese. Attentive service along with a calm ambience - a real treat away from the hustle bustle of the city.

One of the rare 5 stars... Absolutely loved the place... Old time vibes with dim lights & pictures. Best place to chill out with friends over beer & good food. Food - Bombay duck (fish) was a good change compared to the the Maharashtran style. Steak burger - simple, loved it (fries below average) the burger compensated for it. Bread pudding - nostalgia... Took me back to my child hood Note - my wife appriaciated the clean washroom. Will be back to taste the Iranian dishes

From the list of few old placed that remind us about old Mumbai. My love for Peace loving Parsi community can be one more of the reasons to visit this place. Takes you back to old Mumbai memories. The interior has obvious impact of Parsi/Persian culture. The old furniture with the addition of modern bench like sitting. They serve casual food items which will suite well along a pitcher of beer 🍺. Food options are good and the portion sizes are also enough. Nice place to hangout with old friends over some drinks... But be descent and sobur and maintain the decency of the well maintained place.
