Hendriks Cafe

First time at Hendriks...I ordered the Pulled Pork with a poached egg on a Waffle. It was really tasty though the balance of seasoning is a bit off with the waffle tasting sweeter due to lack of salt in it. The other dishes looked really good too. Will have to go back to try something else. Overall, the cafe has a minimalist industrial look to it which I really liked and the service was great too. *I hope they would move the six seater table just under the air-conditioning unit a tad, so whoever sits at that table wouldn't get water 💦 on them.

It was super busy when my partner and I went, and I thought that would be a commentary on the food, but it was pretty average. I ordered a toastie that was pretty small in size and if I was extremely hungry that day, I don't think it would've satisfied me. The fillings and textures were quite rich and unique, but also a little costly from some bread and filling. My partner ordered something along the lines of the big brekkie and it looked pretty good, however, I think the serving only looked big because it was on a small plate. The smoothies were okay, nothing special, however slightly over priced. Overall, it's a pretty good local, but the service and food are average.

The service and environment were great, but the food was painfully average. The fried chicken in the burger was clearly made with really old oil; I could tase it. The steak sandwich used thing slices of beef (like you get with a hot-pot) instead of a proper steak. The chips were simply bad. Very disappointed.

I've been to Hendricks a few times and always enjoyed the food, however today was very disappointing. They've had a menu change which really didn't have any stand out options so I ordered the eggs Benedict with bacon and asked for the bacon to be crispy. When I received my food the bacon was under cooked so I asked for it to be done again. Once my food came back I cut into my egg only to see runny egg whites. I left the eggs and tried to eat the rest but everything was tasteless. My partner ordered a bowl of chips and how can you be disappointed with chips? Easy because we got a bowl of mainly end bits! Won't go back for a while. RESPONSE: Had your staff bothered to ask I would have provided the feedback. It was hard enough to wave them over to the table the first time as they barely made eye contact with any patrons and when I managed to get a waitress over, she had zero care factor.

The level of satisfaction I am at after eating here. Astronomical. We've heard of chicken and waffles, but let me put you in something, duck and waffles. Fantasic balance of sweet and savoury. Duck cooked to perfection with a crispy exterior. Waffles delicious. The toppings, make it whole and delicious. When I say I cleaned the plate, I mean it. Also my partner is still talking about the ribs. Highly recommend this place and I can't wait to come back to try more. Also the flavour of the chai, immaculate. 6/5 Starr's in my book
