Fish On Parkyn

Fish was recommended to us by the hotel we are staying at and certainly did not disappoint. Ambience is lovely staff is attentive . The mussels were a simple dish in a simple tomato sauce , fresh and delicious. My partner had the risotto, which i tasted and that was excellent. I had the signature dish, the snapper and to be honest probably the best snapper dish I have ever had . What I didn’t understand was the M/P price on the menu. I can understand M/P if it was lobster or caviar, but its snapper , how much could the price fluctuate by $2? Perhaps M/P is to do with labour costs on the night. So, is a fancy snapper, no matter how delicious worth $83 ? You be the judge.

Ate at Fish on Parklyn for combined Birthday & Mothers Day dinner with the family Positives: live music was fantastic, atmosphere lovely and staff friendly, complimentary Mothers Day champagne was a nice surprise Negatives: ordered the seafood platter - at $170 it was underwhelming. Found 2 of 8 mussels to not be open, when we complained were told "that is nature". I agree that it is nature, however at $170, do not serve mussels that are not open and could make us sick!. They did not remedy/ re-cook or compensate us at all! The linguine was dry pasta out of a packet with no sauce and a very small amount of crab. Fortunately the gnocchi with blue cheese sauce was good, so I put sauce from the gnocchi on the linguine and made it edible. Kids food was good but overpriced at $18 for chicken nuggets and chips + ice cream Overall: overpriced $$$ with underwhelming food. Would not recommend or visit again in the future. Could have been so much better.

We made booking for Monday night dinner. There was many free tables, restaurant wasn't busy, so we could just walk in but we wanted table next to open windows. Therefore you need to book. Everything from service to food was very good. They have a nice not yoo extensive menues for food and drinks. What I like on menues "less is better" so it's easy and not confusing to choose. My Mooloolaba king prawns coconut crumbs and mango salsa and honey sauce were tasty. Other meal barramundi with crushed macadamia delicious. Vegie green beans and broccoli simple but deliciously seasoned. We enjoyed our dinner. Thank you everyone.
