Sushi Fly

This was the best sushi restaurant In all of Monterey, and one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. The staff were lovely and genuinely cared about customer’s experience. You could tell they were great people and got along like a family. Unfortunately the owner Mike broke his hand and could no longer make sushi. He made the decision to permanently close sushi fly. As of 1/29/22 it will no longer be open. It broke mine and many in the communities heart to know we will no longer be able to patron this amazing establishment. Sushi Fly will be greatly missed!

I have to admit I was a bit skeptical of this place when I first arrived seeing all the 'gaijin' behind the counter. But seeing how the place was crowded midweek and reading all the high ratings had me finding a seat. Of course all my worries disappeared when the first dish arrived, it and every dish that we ordered after was absolutely both gorgeous and tasty. There are plenty of places to get seafood in Monterey but not a lot for sushi and Sushi fly does not disappoint. Casual atmosphere, great service,fresh and tasty food -- recommended.

Always an amazing time when I stop in. Sushi Fly is a great atmosphere, with only positive vibes. One word to describe the Food: phenomenal. Not a penny wasted that is spent supporting this business. Hats off to Chef Troy and Mike for setting the bar when it comes to the full experience that is sushi. I bow gracefully in appreciation to all that you do. Arigatōgozaimashita. (Thank you)

Sushi Fly is one of my favorite sushi restaurants across the country. The owner/chef, Troy, is knowledgeable and super accommodating which is reflected in his food as well as his employees. Try the fruit infused saki and the "Chef's Remix" for a tailored one-of-a-kind roll. I've been going to Crystal Fish for years but this place is definitely my new favorite!

Sushi chefs and owners Mike and Troy do an excellent job here serving top notch sushi rolls in a very hip atmosphere. Not a very large restaurant, but the location is ideally located along Alvarado street and easily accessible via walking from the Wharf and the Monterey Rec Trail. Though this place is new, Mike and Troy have been Sushi Chefs for years and use nothing but the highest quality ingredients. Be sure to ask the chefs for a chefs' special. They are very creative with their rolls.
