Backyard Taco

Service has its moments, but mostly good. Place seems to be at times distracting to staff but nothing to worry about. you just have to repeat yourself a few times. Food is great. In the past, there was a chance to get meat that has been sitting for some time and loses its luster. But 90% of the time, the meat tastes hot and juicy. Occasionally, you might get that colder meat, but it's rare. These are not really negatives to avoid. Like most food joints, you take the good and bad and hope for the best. They have found what works best for them, and my stomach approves. Salsa bar is always a great place to load up. Now, if I can get them to make a new location a little more central, I won't have to drive 40min for my tacos 👍🏼. All in all a great place to eat, the University location is cozy with dine in and no drive thru and patio eating the Stanley Dr location feels more commercial but in a way of more seating and a drive through with patio seating. The 3rd location I don't frequent, but if, like the others, they are holding it down.

Our experience at Backyard Taco was truly exceptional. The ambiance was fantastic, the food was extraordinary, and our server provided outstanding service. The flavors were perfectly balanced and unique, making these tacos stand out from the ordinary, a culinary masterpiece unlike anything I've ever tasted. I can't wait to return for another unforgettable dining experience.

Best, tacos, ever! Great authentic Mexican tacos! Worth going out of your way just to stop at this little restaurant for some fresh made carne asada tacos! They also have an amazing salsa bar with anything from mild and flavorful, to some blazing hot salsa that makes you question all your life choices!

Went here for a business lunch, food was great and fast. My only downside was the seating. Very limited indoor seating. If you're wanting to eat here and sit in AC, you are going to want to go before the lunch rush. Take out will be my go to here for lunch. No complaints on the food quality, it was great!

This is one of the “Must Try” taco shops in the East Valley and I usually stop whenever I’m in the area. On this visit I went with 2 pollo & 2 asada tacos. The asada is the go-to but occasionally I’ll add something else to my order. I also really like the quesadillas and the “Papa Loca”. This location in central Mesa has a small inside & small outside dining area compared to the newer locations but is still my favorite! *Special Note - Closed Sundays*

We are so glad we found this place! They have the best Birria Taco I have EVER had! We have taken 5 or 6 other couples there and they all raved about it! The food is always fresh, hot and delicious 😋. The salsa bar is clean and well stocked. The staff are pleasant, efficient, knowledgeable about menu items and very helpful. They explained what all of the different things on the menu were and made wonderful suggestions. I thought the prices were reasonable.
