Fishtales Cafe

Quite sad when you drive 10 minutes to your favourite local fish & chip shop & walk through the door at 2.10 to be told that, although they are open until 2.30 that they really close at 2 because that's when they turn their grill off?? (I am gluten free) So drove all the way home again to some dissapointed kids (and Mum). Oh well, that 30 minutes just lost a at least $80 from our possible order today........ and 30 minute round trip for nothing.

Fishlies Cafe. Wanted to get fish and chips after Baxter Falls Trail run but was disappointed with the under portioning and the quality of the food which took 40mins to make. Would of Had better luck going to k mart, buying a hair straightener and curling the chips myself. Asked for extra chicken salt but the only salt I could see was seeping from my tears as I was made false promises. $19 for a meal is steeper than the trail and you’d expect a generous portion but the only thing generous was myself giving the place any business. Despite longer wait times than KFC drive Through on a Tuesday, when the food arrived I was told one of the sauces I bought she didn’t have despite telling me she had one available when I made my purchase. Also found it very offensive that the only people they asked for “Christian names” were the only coloured people in the restaurant, myself and my friends with the lady at the counter not asking for Christian names of anyone else that walked in after. Only added the extra star from one because when we didn’t receive enough lemons for the fish she gave us enough for a lemon party.

Had a lovely evening sitting on our rugs behind fish tails. 4 families with small children running around having fun. Meeting people we new from Mapleton. Who also had the same idea. Get out into the fresh air. Enjoy your choice of great seafood, fish and chips or burgers. Which was beautifully cooked. Great little takeaway.

Very disappointed with my recent order. 3 of us had 3 different orders all with chips. I had crumbed snapper. It was tough and poorly cooked. The chips were ordinary too as were my friends meals. We ordered by phone and arrived at the right time to be told that they were running 15 minutes late. Ok, understandable, it was busy. 35 minutes later we got our order. Hmm 🤔, maybe it's just the holiday season rush but I have questions about the quality of the produce too. Something has changed.

We order via phone 3 burgers and chips, plus a kid's pack of nuggets and chip. Came to $57 upon pick up!! If I was told over the phone, I would have cancel and go to Nambour fish and chips shop for $35. The chips was slightly burnt, and the nuggets was abit over fried. The burgers was lovely though. I just can't understand why it so overprice.
