Max Devros

I was a fan of Max Devros (cafe) before they moved to, what used to be, the Remington's location recently. Overall, i think they're doing a good job, but you can tell they are still getting their feet under them. Service is slow but very friendly. Food is very good. Some great items, some ok, some not good, but overall very good. My rating of 3 is really an average of the foods/drinks we had. Soup and salad both a 5. Salmon was great but accompanying starch was not, so that gets a 4. The BigMax looks like it will be great, but it falls flat at a 2 or 3. Wouldn't get that burger again. Maybe it's the bread-to-beef ratio. Just wasn't great. Martini was a 5 (best blue-cheese olives in town) but current wine options limited to some Spanish wine. For an upscale-ish place, I'd like to order a decent glass of wine, but I'm sure that's only temporary. I'll be back to review again on next visit. I do like the place, and I'm confident they are learning and improving, so I'll bet my next rating will be a 4.

Just happened upon this place when we were driving around looking for a luncheon spot. Not disappointed. Maybe a little short staffed, but who isn’t nowadays. I got the buttermilk chicken sandwich and my husband got the steak sandwich. Both were excellent. Very tasty! Also got the tater tots. Can’t go wrong with those either. We will be back.
