Taco Zone

Recently visited my parents in Lawrence (from Texas) and I have to say these are the best street tacos I've had in a long time! Prices are great, the flavor, presentation and portions are perfect. Highly recommend the margaritas, both regular and prickly pear. Don't be deceived by the cup size, they pack a good punch! Can't wait to go back every time I visit. Locals are super lucky to have this place! So glad they sell their hot sauce, I got a bottle to take home with me!!

This review is like 5 years overdue. I've been coming here regularly for what feels like a decade and this is without question the best place to eat in Lawrence. Order anything, it is all so good. My favorite and top recommendation is chicken NACHOS. Also the queso is out of this world (and the CHIPS themselves are something of their own universe of goodness). If you like margaritas, theirs will be the one to which you compare all others. If somehow all the amazing food and still reasonable prices were not enough, there's the staff, led by the one and only Brad -- our family-labeled nicest human in Lawrence. Simple, fresh, and delicious food and excellent service in a spare and unpretentious little shop. The nachos with pork al pastor were both crunchy and tender in the right places. And the watermelon and lime agua fresca was a refreshing delight on a hot, muggy day. My companions had a variety of street tacos that were all divine. My must-have taco place in Lawrence from now on!

I urge you to take a chance on this restaurant. This place is NOT your normal taco joint despite the name and it's casual appearance. The food features high quality ingredients and robust flavors. You won't find cardboard flavored tacos like Taco Bell here... expect something more along the lines of Martha Stewart coming over to throw you a private Mexican fiesta. I actually declined to eat here the first couple of times my wife suggested we try it... as usual, I was wrong. This is one of Lawrence's hidden food gems, although it's super casual and the name makes it sound like a place to go after a drinking binge, it's really one of Lawrence best places for some awesome food. Do not pass this place by.

I'm from Southern California and this was not authentic Mexican food. The red sauce with pork was seriously over-seasoned, salty and way too heavy on the spice. My friend got the three tacos and her opinion was the same was not good at all. Only thing that was good was the chips and guacamole and even then the chips were heavily salted. Their idea of margaritas comes from a vet that sits on the countertop. Margarita wasn't good either.
