Atomica

We've been meaning to try Atomica ever since finding out they have a separate plant-based menu and we finally made it. Their menu has a section identified as plant-based with 5 options to choose from and the rest of the menu has notes to indicate what other items can be made vegan. We ordered the Rigatoni Primavera, the Funghi Pizza and the Carne Finta Pizza. The pasta was delish!!! Whole cloves of roasted garlic, roasted cherry tomatoes and the sauce was incredible. The Funghi pizza was our favourite. The Carne Finta pizza was a little too spicy for our tastes but so very flavourful! We will definitely be back to try other menu items and to enjoy another Funghi Pizza!

It’s no exaggeration to say that I’ve been to Atomica 30 times and only ever had the fettuccini. It’s my favourite meal from any restaurant and a default pick for special occasions. The staff is great, the restaurant is chic and beautiful, and none of my dinner mates have ever had a complaint about their meals (although as you can see, they also usually only get the fettuccine!) Perfect date night spot.

Pizza is absolutely fantastic I had the chicken Parmesan and unfortunately the chicken was dry was over cooked, we had the cauliflower bites they were very good and we had some poutine thing that was pretty darn good, I would have gave it five stars if it wasn’t for the dried up chicken other than that everything else was good as well as the service.

All of our main meals were very good. We ordered 3 different kinds of pizzas and 3 different pastas, plus an appetizer. All were very tasty. However, when it came time for dessert, we ordered 2 of the ice cream sandwiches and 1 of their specials, which was a baked apple dessert with vanilla ice cream. It took about a half hour to get the ice cream sandwiches and about 40-45 minutes to get the special. The cookies in the ice cream sandwich were ridiculously hard because they were still frozen, and we could barely bite into them. The apple dessert was pretty much a big mound of dough with very little apple in it. So, overall, we were impressed with our main meal but not with the dessert. The restaurant did take the apple dessert off the bill, but I think, in all fairness, the ice cream cookies could have been compensated as well.

We had an excellent lunch at Atomica. My wife wanted pasta and I felt like pizza and both dishes were very tasty. The Atomica pizza was spicy with a perfect crust and toppings. The fettuccine sauce was very flavourful and went perfectly with the chicken and bacon. The ambiance was very nice and the staff were friendly and efficient. I will be back next time I'm in Kingston, highly recommended!
