Located along the coast between Warrnambool and Port Fairy. Table service wine tastings offered. Delicious selection of local produce platters to enjoy along with wines by the glass/ bottle. Indoor, outdoor undercover and lawn seating available. Grass area for the children to run around and views of the vines. Popular spot, very relaxed and enjoyable.

Nice food. However, one waitress slightly ruined our experience. I would advise to book beforehand to ensure one doesn’t receive the unequal treatment we did (thought it appears from other reviews that bookings aren't guaranteed). We arrived with no reservation but were encouraged to sit on one of two tables that happened to be under the sun in the midst of summer. We were fine with this and fortunately found a third table under shade but near the cafe’s private shed. Once we sat in the shade, we were informed we had to move due to OHS restrictions. Again we were fine with this… until another group arrived and were permitted to sit at the exact shaded table we were reallocated from. This one waitress needs to ensure she treats different groups of people equally as her actions unfortunately comes across as discriminatory.

Great little winery just off the A1 enroute to Port Fairy, as you wind down the Great Ocean Road journey from Warrnambool. Awesome selections of wines and the cheese board is to die for. The best part is they serve up Cuban cigars, the highlight of any wine pairing experience, the good red, fresh cheese and a fine stogie. Wine sommelier and owner both were very friendly and hospitable. Highly recommended!

Good wines but an underwhelming wine tasting experience especially when being charged $15 pp and this fee not being waived if we bought a bottle. We were only provided with a wine list with no proper brief of the wines and seemed the chap serving us had no idea too. We were then left alone to do our own wine tasting with one glass for 5/6 different wines. If you are charging a fee at least ensure you provide a personalised experience. Would probably not go back.

Lovely, popped in for a quick tasting ($15pp which is fine as I don’t feel guilty if I don’t feel like buying anything) and met the beautiful dog! The sparkling and Riesling were especially good. If I had a bit more time, I would’ve definitely loved a glass of Riesling in their gorgeous outdoor area overlooking the vineyard.

Very poor attitude of owner, booking was made for lunch several weeks ago, recieved a booking confirmation 2 days before the day asking us to confirm that we were coming which we did. Arrived at basalt winery only to find a sign on the chain across the driveway saying closed, rang there number only to get a message saying due to no staff we are closed, We left a message on the phone number no one rang back. The owner finally came out of the house and when I said that I had a lunch booking for today he questioned it so I showed him then he said we are closed indefinitely we have no staff, I understand if places are closed because they have no staff but when you receive no Phone call, text message or email to inform us not to come, all we got was oh sorry you were not told. Very poor attitude and gave the impression of oh well. If this is the way they conduct business it leaves a lot to be desired. Will never try to go back again when in Port Fairy. The only reason it gets 1 star is because it does not allow me to go lower

Very disappointed about this place and the owners of this establishment of not informing my Husband and I that Basalt Vineyards was closed indefinitely due to no staff. didn't have an issue with the staff problem. our issue was that they took your booking and then sent out a confirmation of our reservation 2 days prior to attend. We received no courtesy email or phone call to let us know that this establishment was closed so sorry for any inconvenience, We travelled 10 ks on push bikes from port fairy only to find a sign saying closed today. the owner's attitude towards my husband's question was " sorry you weren't notified he"had an appalling attitude didn't have any care in the world. if this is how this establishment conducts business it is poor . Very bad business we will never try to back again, left a very poor taste with us. And this review should not get 1 star but it will not allow me to give a lower rating as it deserves.

Nice food, wine and service. But beware of the group packages. My advice is know exactly how much your paying and what this covers, otherwise you may end up paying double as we were!
