Really good cuppa coffee, with a cherry scone. Friendly staff. The layout could be better, tables are all over the place. Banged my head when I stood up as I was under the book shelf!! Really good reason behind “First Light” which is to help the armed forces to socialise and talk about their well-being.

Recommended to me by a friendly guy in the street when I was looking for a coffee shop in Hawick. A.warm friendly place with delicious cakes and really nice staff. Named after Richard Sharpe and the Bernard Cornwell series of books and TV series. This place supports Veterans and their families and is a credit to Hawick. What a great place. A letter from the author supporting the venture hangs on the wall. I think they deserve a Visit Scotland award for initiative.

This is a great place to drop in for coffee or tea and some beautiful cakes or scones. They also sell pre loved books with all funds going to support armed forces veterans. The staff are friendly and very helpful. As well as books they sell some other second hand items.

What they do in this place is second to none for vetrans and members of the public, such a friendly environment and always made to feel welcome, you are never left to feel alone and there is always someone to say hello and talk with.

A warm friendly welcome and discount for veterans. It was great as there was one of each service on my visit, Army, Air Force, Navy and Commando veterans and their dogs too. The staff join in with a good laugh and a bit of friendly banter. This should be a venue in every town. Well done, it made my weekend break more memorable.

Great place for everyone & you can take your dog! Friendly staff, comfie chairs, great for quick coffee or spend all afternoon there chatting, reading or doing their jigsaw! Advice for army & blue light veterans.
