The Vine

While I was recommended Vine by a friend, I do not believe that they met my expectations. The menu itself is quite slim with it's offerings, and they had little product available at the display for order when I went. Moreover, the indoor seating was quite sparse; the outdoor left something to be desired with only a few tables. While I won't knock the location for my personal failure to recognize a tempeh reuben indeed has no meat on it, this was not made up by any of the other ingredients in the sandwich. The only redeeming factor of my visit was the almond croissant we ordered which was quite flakey and fresh.

Just moved here and am so glad to have found this place. Couldn't decide on a pastry so I got one if each. ALL were delicious. Went back the same day to get a loaf of bread and try the chocolate chip cookie. It was even better than Gideon's! Friendly staff and cozy, covered outdoor seating. Will def be going back regularly.

This place was recommended by family, but I should have paid greater attention to the “professional baker wanted” sign displayed when I arrived. We bought 2 loaves, rye and white, and both are mostly air - as in full of holes. A definite sign of quality or control issues in the bakery. Flavor was OK but also not what I expect from an artisan bakery of sourdough products. Hopefully they’ll find the professional they need to restore the quality others have found.

Discovered this place by accident, I was driving by and sauce three words that made me want to stop. Vegan, Organic, Homemade. I was sold right there. The place itself has that local community charm with pictures on the walls of all the fun days that customers spend there. It is filled with books, plants, and wine bottles. The employees are always welcoming and happy to help. They do offer limited capacity but still have a decent amount of food. They make homemade pasta 🍝 , sourdough bread 🥖 , pastries 🥐 , and many more. I tried their carrot 🥕 pasta and that was delicious. Since I live in Orlando, the next time I went I bought a bunch of pasta to take home. I froze it so it does not go bad, and it still tastes great! Their bread at first looks hard, and the first time I was there I was hesitant about getting one. The second time I came in they had a jalapeno onion bread, I couldn't stop myself from trying that combination. The bread tasted amazing! It does have a harder shell but I think it is just how sour bread is, but the inside of it was soft and yummy! Their croissants are just as good as everything else there. They have a good amount of stuffing and its actual natural ingredients versus a paste. I tried almond croissant 😋. Vine is one of the MUST Visit once you are in Gainesville. They can always ship the food to you if you want to which is amazing if you leave further away. They also offer some special bread or pasta to order if you want a specific filling that they do not have at the store.

Food was super ok. Everything felt like it was missing something, or was slightly undercooked. Also the building is super rundown and messy, I was a little unnerved by how unclean and chaotic it looked behind the counter where they were keeping the food. Staff was not friendly or helpful. Needs some serious TLC.
