Veterans Diner

So I loved the food it was yummy a bit salty for my taste but others may like that, I came July 5th and it was the owner waiting tables and husband cooking (he usually doesn't cook she usually does but after a holiday they were having issues with staffing ) she was kind courteous and explained stuff as we had never been there before, I ordered a burger and fries big burger loved it , my wife ordered and omelet and asked for the hash browns to be deep fried, they delivered very well, so well in fact i forgot to leave a tip and had to drive back because only jerks don't tip especially when you can see the service she was providing was excellent given the circumstances , and my son order the same omelet with. Normal hash browns pie for comparison

Nothing exciting to look at from the outside and the lack of looks continue on the inside also. Only decoration on the wall is a small tiny 8x11 hand drawn soldier portrait. 2 TV boxes sitting on chairs against the wall with exposed wiring dropping from the ceiling to include HDMI cables but TVs & mounting brackets missing (maybe they was stolen?) The “menu” was 2 tattered pieces of plain white printed paper staples together & items on menu had no descriptions or what was included. I walked in only because they had good reviews on google & the owner(s) is well engaged on here with feedback. I wanted to give the place a good review, but sadly can’t. My waitress didn’t know the menu or describe the dishes (but this could be because she has been there less then 2weeks & menu is always shifting ?) Ordered the smothered chicken, it was chicken breasts smothered with a large amount of soy and a half melted white cheese. along with a side of mouth burning mash potatoes topped with chicken gravy. Don’t get me wrong the food was tasty and I enjoyed it but it’s not for everyone. I would describe the overall quality “poor mans home cooked food” The specials advertised Strawberry shortcake & a hot fudge brownie. They didn’t have Strawberry shortcake quoting their strawberry supplier couldn’t produce a big enough fresh supply. Being surprised they was using fresh strawberries instead of canned. I asked if the fudge brownies was a secret family recipe or boxed & was informed it came from a box. I really wanted to give this place a good review but presentation and ambiance was lacking that the friendly engaging service couldn’t make up for.

My daughter and I stopped in here for dinner on a Friday. It was efficient, the servers were very very friendly. They all worked together to ensure everyone had a great experience.! Personable w the patrons. I cannot say enough good things. The food was AMAZING! Way better than a lot of coney’s I have tried. The layout was very open making you not feel crowed. All in all I will say I’ll be coming back here, I will be getting carry outs from here. I was very impressed.!

This place has changed greatly for the better. Very clean both in appearance and smell. Food was great. They have several lunch specials for just 5 bucks. Both management and waitress were there to greet us and make sure everything was great. So glad it has new management and they have made it a wonderful place to dine.
