I’ve visited Fish Creek many times but not stopped for food. This time we wandered through the town for the Makers Market, bought some supplies from the general store then had a light lunch at Gecko’s. Packed with people, we found ourselves a table for two and read our newspapers while we waited for our meals.
The Moroccan lamb pie with spiced pear and saffron chutney was superb so much so we bought a jar of the chutney. My smashed avocado and feta was soooo fresh with just the right amount of lime to give it a zing.
The staff are just gorgeous and very helpful
After our meal we explored the gallery’s artwork, checked out the art supplies at the rear of the store and admired the craftsmanship of some of the local artisans.
There is outdoor seating at the front for those warmer days.
Kid friendly. Caters for simple dietary requirements. Good parking out front. Not really wheelchair accessible but with a frame or cane you’d be okay.
I would highly recommend Geckos for not only the food be coffee but for the gallery experience.

5 Star gallery and 3 Star cafe so giving average 4 Stars. The gallery space is by far the best in the area and exhibits above average work from local artists, as well as stocking art making supplies and handmade gift cards, etc.
Coffee was ok in the cafe but most of the lunch items were pre-made, wrapped in clingwrap and generally overpriced and underwhelming.

It's now called Little Oberon Cafe and it's worth visiting. They have great range of art, hand made timber products and pottery. And of course, the best coffee.

Good coffee, good food and friendly staff (changed their Spotify play list after I commented on a song that I liked).
Food is "what you see is what you get". A menu would be nice. Will go there again when I'm in the area.

Beautiful cafe and friendly staff. Everyone working was so kind and helpful. Food was delicious and the coffee fantastic, using a coffee bean roasted in Melbourne. Adding to this they have a wonderful gallery to browse and a terrific range of art supplies to purchase. Walked away with some goodies as well as full bellies. Well worth the stop and visit for anyone in the area.

Food was great, and the gallery lovely, but on two occasions we have found the atmosphere uncomfortable and a little forced. On our most recent visit - which we acknowledge was later in the day - we ordered food, only for it to be packed into take-away containers and were then asked to leave. (This was despite being offered the option to eat-in.) Thankfully there's a nice park across the street.
Our recommendation? Worth a snack/take-away on the way through, but I wouldn't stop in with expectations of great service.

The coffee here is definitely the greatest in the area. We came here for a light breaky and coffee. The raspberry and pistachio croissant was mind blowing omg. We came the next day to have another. We also had the avo on toast and banana bread which were both very delicious. The cafe environment is awesome and service was top. The gallery was nice to look at while having coffee. In love!
